DL is gonna be based on the EAD expiration. I never seen any DMV using marriage date to give someone a driver's license. They're gonna check you on the save database.

To renew EAD you need to apply for it. Send forms 765 and 131 with all the required documents. The NOA 1 from the renewal will serve as an extension for your current ...

I have been talking with my DL department and they say they can only go off marriage date. What form does one use to extend the EAD?

I see that 6 months ago you already tried to give advice on the same issue @Ayrton to @MyFilAmFuture. But I guess that info didn’t stick.

Maybe others can suggest something else, but unfortunately I don’t know if there is a way to solve that issue at this point. If she had submitted for a renewal, her NOA would have automatically extended the expiration date of her EAD by 180 days: https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/form-i-9-resources/handbook-for-employers-m-274/handbook-for-employers-m-274/40-completing-section-2-of-form-i-9/44-automatic-extensions-of-employment-authorization-documents-eads-in-certain-circumstances

We filed my renewal in October and we still didn’t get a NOA yet (It expires in April) in addition omg I didn’t file for the renewal for 131 what should I do I only submitted the work permit

It’s crazy how long these wait times are! Maybe you could send an email to the lockbox to see if they have started processing your renewal?

And yes, you should send a renewal for the AP, they are separate forms.

Are you sure you filed to the right location? People are getting approved in two months, if you didn't receive your NOA it's because something was wrong with your form.

Email the lockbox or call USCIS and ask to check it.

Hi can I still change my last name before they issue my green card? our interview is scheduled for Feb 1

If you didn't apply in your married name, make sure you tell the officer to update your name at the interview.

I applied with my married name and would want my green card to have my maiden name. could I request for that at the interview?

I believe it's the same. Tell the officer which name you want to use as your legal name.

Hey folks,

So we had out interview last Friday and it didn't feel so great. We are hoping for a positive outcome but I wanted to share the experience. As many folks have noted you come in and go thru airport like security ( shoe removal, jewelry removal etc.) We took the lift to the second floor and checked in for our interview. Initially I was excited to hear our IO escort a couple and verbally say you are all set, congratulations, etc. I thought wow I hope she interviews us and says the same thing. But once we got into the room it just seemed to go downhill. The IO wasn't very friendly. The questions asked were all standard. I was taken off guard by her request to know more about my ex husband. She asked what my husband's parents do and asked if we had met each others family. She was noting down all updates she needed to make to our file such as new employment, visa status etc. There were four updates in total that she would need to make but she gave no verbal indication that we were approved ( not required I know). She also walked us out very quickly and all in all wasn't friendly. Sorry to hammer on this point but it just wasn't a good experience as so many other folks have said everything went well and case updates were made so quickly. I will say if you have a new job bring your letter of employment or a pay stub. She also wanted to see utilities which we don't have ( included. paid in the rent) and insurance documents ( we had a letter from our car insurance with our names and policy but that wasn't enough for her ( she stated this is just a piece of mail). She never asked for pictures and my husband mentioned it as we were leaving the office. Good luck to anyone with an upcoming interview. No status updates made online and I assume it is due to the number of updates she needed to make to our file.

We filed our AOS in November 2019 and just had our interview on Tuesday. It was approved, but not on the spot.

Two things changed since the application was sent: our address and her job. My wife was not working when we submitted (no EAD at that time) and we moved out of my old living situation shortly before the pandemic started.

We interviewed at the Fairfax, VA office with officer Warner. She was clearly very competent and not worried about our case from the start (she kinda suggested we would be fine). Questions included very normal, standard stuff like our names, birthdates, family's names, etc.

My wife was so nervous because she was afraid she would mess something up, and one of the first answers she gave was that I was born in 1896. Fortunately, the officer had a good sense of humor.

At the end, she gave us a paper that said our case was under review, but she verbally said that she would go over it in the same day and most likely it would be approved and we would get the Green Card within 2-4 weeks. I checked MyUSCIS when I got home and it showed under review, but an hour later it showed "New card is being processed" and the following day "Your case has been approved."

Good experience, we are happy to be done with it.

Also how long does it take for an EAD to be renewed (application to card issued)?

Still waiting on my renewal nearly 5 months after filing. MSC case numbers. People with IOE case numbers are reporting much faster times - around 4 - 6 weeks.

Luckily we have an interview scheduled in a couple of weeks.
