I screwed up on my EAD and didn’t tick box for them to send me an updated SSN for some reason I ticked no so does that mean I’m going to have to go to the SSN office to get it after it’s approved?

Correct

YMMV

I’ve seen cases on Reddit of people whose cases only updated to “interview was scheduled “ after the ref response was received. They never got a “ready to be scheduled”.

That would be nice too... I guess I just need some sort of confirmation that what I sent them was the only thing needed to keep it moving.

I agree with this. They should update to “everything is ok”  or something similar.

I wish the entire application process was online!! An online website can more accurately describe all the forms required and validate them. If there is a need for RFE, they can be submitted immediately and also save a ton of paper!

Amen to this!

I was thinking about all this when yesterday I was able to order a replacement for my drivers license from my home country ONLINE. They keep an official registry of your photo and signature as long as you have used them to apply for a passport in the last 5 years.

Here it is a 4 hour trip to DMV to stand in a line.

Your EAD will be delivered before the green card and it will come as a combo with the AP, your SSN card will arrive between 2 to 6 days after the EAD shows up.

About the interviews, sorry I don't have that info :) good luck!

I'll have my green card before the ead.

Congratulations to both of you! Glad seeing that Atalanta is finally working on June fillers. I feel kind of bit jealous because my NOA 1 was on May 31, and I got RFE on Aug 2. My status is still "RFE response was received on Aug 13". I chatted online with agent and she said my case is still in National Benefit Center. No updates still. So stressing and I keep check the case status every day! RFE put me in a back log😑

Hopefully you'll join to the club soon. And hear back from them. Good luck.

That is good news, as soon as you get your green card go to the SSN office to check if you already have a number, if not they will get that for you. If you get the green card that means the EAD combo card will be no longer needed! YAY!! :)

Prepare yourselves. here comes an epic rant...

Getting so frustrated with these government agencies.

So a week and a half ago, my wife and i went to a credit union to open a joint checking account. joint accounts are a good idea for interviews. shows you are true.

we went to the credit union. supplied our required documents, electric or gas bill, cant remember which one with both our names on the account and so forth.

after about 25 minutes, they said we could not open the account jointly because her ss card(with her married name), does not match her passport.

my wife can't get a drivers license yet, so they suggested we get a state ID with her married name on it.

My wife goes to the dmv a week ago. brings all necessary papers and documents. dmv confirms that everything she brought is what was needed. take her picture, Then they state that they need to verify something with the ss office. they call ss and cant get the information, because ss can't look it up on their data base that day. my wife is instructed to check save.uscis.gov/casecheck over the next couple of days to see the status of this identification card case. the dmv worker said, "when the checkmark appears and tells you to come back, comeback, and we can get you your ID.

for those who do not know, it will have a icon of a clock while they are working on the case/case under review, and a checked box when it has been returned to the agency. in this case, the dmv.

Monday evening, we checked, and the site said, case returned to the agency. so, as the dmv worked said, this mean to come back to the dmv.

my wife dropped me off at work today(she drives using an international drivers license), and went to the dmv.

waited 2 1/2 hours today just to have them tell her, her case is not ready...

#######!

dmv says, yes, even though your case states that information has been sent back to us(the agency), they have not reviewed anything. and she should check the website for when it has been reviewed so she can come back(wait half the day again) and get her ID.

the site does not provide this information to my knowledge, only, "case under review,", and "case returned to agency.

So how the F are we supposed to check?

dmv then says, or wait for an email to say your case is ready...

Who's going to email us? the dmv? she didnt provide an email.

all this just to get a bank account to help with her eventual interview.

also, she had a difficult time getting her ss card too.

its just been a pain in the butt. why can't things just run smoothly. stupid bureaucratic garbage faces

GRRRRRR. I need a lullabye before i tear through my clothes and turn green

My husband and I opened our account when I was still his fiance, we did it in Wells Fargo, he owns the account with his SSN and I am the 2nd joint and they asked me for my passport and my visa only. Try with that bank, they are very flexible.

Ugh that’s the hard part of being between two last names, very frustrating limbo situation.

Could your wife possibly renew her passport via her country’s embassy/consulate? I renewed my passport that way, and it’ll be my first ID with my new last name and I can hopefully use that to update the name on my bank account etc.

Edit: Also, shouldn’t marriage certificate work as proof in these situations that both names are legit.
