Mr Donald Trump being the president and the current situation with the immigration and the fact that he is not very happy with more people coming in the US to settle down ,you will be  better off staying in your country for a while. I am not sure but maybe he has instructed the DHS to issue as less visas as they can.

I hate when people do that. 

 

Immigration laws existed before Trump. Those laws have been strict for a while now. There is no laws saying that there should be less visas issued. 

 

It doesn't matter anyway since it looks like OP doesn't qualify for any visa anyway. Trump or not.

Honestly you're better off doing vacations. Construction type jobs in the USA do not pay as well as in other countries. Health care is more expensive here.  Schooling is not rated very high until a university level.

Don't think any of that quality for a work visa. Which means you don't have a way to move to the US.

Not to be the wet blanket here, but vacationing somewhere is very different from actually living there. It wouldn't be vacation all the time. I don't know much about Scotland, but the very first thing you should do before taking any sort of action to moving here would be do ALL of your available research. Cost of living. Housing. Work opportunities (as others have said, not every profession is easily transferable, which appears to be the only option you would have to moving stateside). Change in benefits (health care, paid work leave, child care, etc.). Schooling. A lot changes when you move to a new country that you may not consider just by basing the decision off your vacationing experiences. I love the beach, which is where my family travels every summer, but I'd never move there; the cost of living would be too high for my taste and I don't have the patience with the weather year round.

Neither would qualify for a work visa. We have plenty of both here already. Work visas are granted for skills that are in short supply or high demand. 

 

And, to be frank with you, you have a much better life in Scotland. Hairdressers and scaffolders here are less likely to be able to afford long-haul holidays each year like you can. Apart from not having the time off to do it as well. Your standard of living and opportunities for your child are better in Scotland.

Unless there is something very unusual you have not mentioned, then you need to look at this as a long term plan, train in something that both appeals to you and for which there is a demand in the US.

That would be hard to achieve because DHS doesn't issue any visas.

A hairdresser can get an O-1 visa (has happened before) if they are a personal stylist to very well-known public figures. I’m thinking like someone who has been the personal stylist for someone like members of the royal family or top movie or music stars whose hairstyles have been copied and admired all over the world. But for someone who cuts hair in a regular salon for regular people, it’s unlikely.

I'm not disagreeing. But I stand by the "sounds like a no" due to no evidence of the contrary.
