Here is the big question.  How is the English accent getting along with the southern drawl of Georgia?  Any communication issues?  Maybe Atlanta won't be too bad but I always have trouble when I head south to areas like Jackson, Mississippi.  It feels like another language!

My sweet fiance makes fun of my and my southern draw. I'm originally from south Alabama, so you can only imagine how thick my accent is. When he met my dad, he literally laughed in his face because of his accent. It is much thicker than mine B-). Gotta love that southern draw!

LOL same here. Georgia can be tricky. Atlanta isn't always so bad; it's become more diverse over the years. Visit Macon.. Warner Robins.. Savannah.. it may get a bit thicker. :P

I was born and raised in the Carolinas and although I don't feel my southern accent is as dramatic as some are, Paul still comments on it from time to time. He did have his friends and family in Sweden expecting me to come over there sounding like an extra from Deliverance, the way they all told me I didn't sound as country as they expected. lol. I have relatives who are EXTREMELY country in their accent, and that did stun him a bit first time he met everyone :) I think it gives us character! :P

I hope his hybrid accent blends well around here. He's grown up around Swedish and tagalog his whole life - not quite like Southern accents. :P

Håll ut, y'all.

There's a super detailed (aka long :P ) review on my Timeline of the interview, from both my account and Paul's (the beneficiary).

Speaking as the petitioner - is the 221G the form you get from the embassy telling whether or not you were approved? If so - yes, he got one. He was technically not approved on the spot, only because they hadn't received the papers from his medical yet (it had just been the week before). So that paper said he wasn't approved. But they told him they had to give him that, and everything looked good as long as they got his papers from the doctor. They went ahead and took his passport on the spot. He received his copy of the papers from the doctor the following Tuesday (his interview was on a Thursday), and got his visa in the mail with his passport the next Monday.

Oh, I need to check that out for sure :) Alright so if I give them by Tuesday next week or maybe I will get an answer tomorrow, I might be getting some movement on my case. Yes, 221g is the one you get if the medical hasn't arrived amongst other things. I had my medical 1 week before the interview also, they said they got the medical paper on 14th... allegedly... was looked at today 15th as the status date changed. They have my passport and everything... The dude that was interviewing me was being very condescending towards me. Interrupted when I tried to answer his question by raising his voice and ask the question again, he did that on a couple of occasions. I felt so stupid and my anxiety didn't get any less with that. To top it all off, my mascara had left a huge black spot under my eye *didn't see this before after it all and I went to the bathroom* it was snowing like crazy the day I was there, yeah so much for leaving a good first impression eh? I am just nervous about all of this Administrative process deal... blegh

yeah, I have given them 44 pages of pictures and text logs, 7 affidavits (Mom, dad, son, mother in law, a family friend of Jason and the co-sponsor) correct i-134 form from the co-sponsor and my letter from the government stating I do get my disability indefinitely. I have read up that it can take up to 60 days..I sent all of it on March 9th.

Okay, good! I really think you're going to be alright then. As I said, it will not be months or years. Unless I am badly mistaken, this should be processed fairly quickly.

The reason I think so is because, despite that scary 221g form that we've all heard of, this is not a flat-out denial and most importantly, there are no security issues. Right?

You were not asked for that new DS5525 supplemental form, or asked any security-related questions? They weren't concerned with any criminal records or getting stopped or denied at the US border in the past?

From what I'm able to gather after observing closely for the last ten months or so, people who are flat-out denied or held up in AP indefinitely share certain characteristics: They have drug or criminal problems, they lie or demonstrate uncertainty in their answers; they are from MENA countries; have travelled or lived in MENA countries or countries with high-fraud problems. I have also heard that getting intelligence from countries like those can be problematic as well, which may add to processing times. And of course, there are many many MANY more applicants from those countries than a country like Norway or my country.

Norway doesn't fall into any of those categories so I think your case is just as they have said: They want more documentation.

They are scrutinizing everyone half to death now which is both a good and bad thing. But I think for you guys, they will be able to complete their work fairly quickly and approve you.

Again I am so sorry and this must be horribly agonizing for you!  I know how awful is to wait and wait in uncertainty. But I just don't think you're going to be cast into a black hole for months or years.

Stay strong and have hope guys! :)

Thank you so much, like my brain is saying this is going to go alright, everything will be fine and then it is that evil doubt sitting on the shoulder chatting away. No criminal records, no denied entry, nothing that exciting in my life.. I am boring af so is fiance lololol. :jest:   The only thing is that I got super nervous and it was hard to answer the officer as he kept on interrupting me when I tried to answer him, he was very condescending and rude to be honest. It was not a pleasant 10 minutes deal thing.

I will try to keep my chin up and pray over and over and not to listen to the worry worth heart and head.

From one worry wort to another then!  Lord knows I worried every damn little thing from typos to getting smudges on my documents and stupid things like that.  No one could blame you for worrying especially after a bad experience like that but I honestly think you will get your approval soon.

I'm so sorry the guy was rude to you!  It's not your fault if someone pooped in his cornflakes that day :P But if they denied people based on being nervous only, I'd have been turned away at the embassy door. I was shaking so bad I could barely get my DS160 confirmation paper out of my folder and when the security guard said "go through that door and go downstairs," I thought he said go UPSTAIRS but there were no stairs going UP, so like an idiot I went back out into the security area and asked him to repeat himself!  LOL!!

Hey... I just read back and noticed you said there was some movement on the tracker which is awesome! FINGERS CROSSED yeah I think you will be okay. (L)

approved 3/3/18 and NVC got it 3/15/18

Yes everything goes pretty fast from here on compared to the wait for NOA2. :)

Hi all,

I’ve been super quiet because, well everyone knows that this process is super stressful and I felt it’d be best for my mental state to hibernate.

Anyway, Today we found out that our K1/2 was approved in the strangest of ways...The consulate emailed me the instructions for the interview. USCIS never gave us a NOA2, never updated the website, and we opened an inquiry this past Monday because it had been 60 days since they received the RFE...So...After talking to a REALLY nice person at NVC (USCIS was almost 0 help other than the tier 2 agent was able to find the date they send the package to NVC) here’s the timeline that I have...

2018/02/16 — NOA2

2018/02/23 — Package mailed to NVC

2018/03/02 — NVC received package

2018/03/08 — NVC mails package to Costa Rica

2018/03/15 — Costa Rica received package and emailed me

I was able to get my NVC # (matches the email from the embassy) and the Invoice ID #. No idea what will happen with the NOA2 letter, but I really want that for our records so I’ve an inquiry into USCIS to get a copy.

It’s been a wild ride so far and I’m so happy to see so many June filers sailing right alongside us!

Congrats!

You'll need that noa2 letter for your AOS. So ask them to resend it.
