Cr-1 Spouse Visa and cousin marriage

Hi

My wife is about to go through the interview process for her CR-1/IR visa. I'm residing in Texas.

She is a first cousin and we got married in Pakistan where it is legal.  I've read on here the Officer at the embassy could give problems to this situation.

Texas state recognizes out of state first cousin marriage as valid. (Similar to marrying in NY but then moving to Tx, the marriage is still valid)

My question is since this is a Cr-1 visa, we are already married and are not going to marry in Texas, would we run into any issues?

I could understand if this was one of the K visas, but when Texas accepts out of state marriages like this, there shouldn't be a problem.

I attached a pdf from another situation someone was going through that I found online.

Thanks

First cousin marriage are legal in many states in the US.  They have to live in a state where it is legal.  Many threads discussed this situation.

In Tennessee cousins can marry. (of course, hillbillies) I wonder where you got your information from.

26 US States allow first cousins to get married.

I quote;

Some statistics quote that around 1 in 1000 of all marriages in the US are between cousins. In Texas, you can't marry your cousin in the state and have it recognized as legal in Texas. However, you can marry your first cousin in another state and have the marriage recognized as legal and valid in Texas.

Hope this helps, OP.

I found this:

"A cousin marriage performed abroad will be recognized in the United States for immigration purposes where a civil ceremony has been conducted, a marriage certificate recorded, and an original or certified marriage certificate issued. A private religious cousin marriage ceremony performed abroad will be recognized in the United States if it is legally sufficient in the jurisdiction where the ceremony took place."

"The US immigration process requires a great deal of knowledge, planning, time, patience, and a significant amount of money.  It is quite a journey!"

Why would you answer this in such definite words when it's obvious you have no clue?

Not true. You can legalize the marriage in Texas as long as you marry out of state.
