SB5130 got a reaction from AFCF in Citizenship - Name Change
I had successfully change my name from maiden name to married name PH way midway during the immigration journey.

My 2-year greencard is under my maiden name. I changed my name prior to filing ROC. I did not have any issues. But, what i did was— first, change all my IDs to married name PH way. First, SSN card. Then, driver’s license. Third, PH passport.

when it was time to file for ROC, i fill it up with my “new” married name. I attached my driver’s license, passport-both in the correct name as a supporting document of the name change. I did not have any issues anywhere in the filing. My 10-year greencard was in my PH married name

the only bump i had was at the DMV while applying for a new driver’s license. The lady didnt correctly changed my married name PH way. Since it’s face-to-face, i have the opportunity to correct her.

the USCIS folks cant force you to change your middle name same with the birth certificate when all your valid IDs and documents are in the new name

How many bank statements did you send? USCIS loves to see a ton of them to make sure that both of you are actively using the account and have been throughout the years. Extra good if both your salaries are going into the same account, definitely send copies of stuff like that.

Don't send tax returns, send tax transcripts.

Also send both your state IDs and/or driver licences that show the same address, that's a very easy evidence to add to the pile.

If I was in your shoes right now, I would send things from before the marriage too, in order to prove there was a solid relationship prior, including flight tickets, hotel bookings, passport stamps and pictures from any trip taken together -or to visit each other- from the inception of the relationship to this day.

As noted, DOS made the decision.
Only USCIS has set a planned date to reopen. DOS has not yet.
The individual employees have absolutely no say when they can resume normal visa processing work. Your anger and insults directed at them are misguided. The decision to resume visa processing is something from top DOS staff and/or the chief of mission for that country. It's like complaining that a DMV clerk won't issue a new license when the state's governor mandated all DMV offices closed. The worker has no say...you're talking to people at least several levels lower in the org chart than those with the power to make that decision.

If the plan is to remain abroad until the interview, I'm assuming you have a co sponsor lined up (or large assets).

I’m sorry that you are frustrated but aiming it at government employees is a bit unfair.
Decisions around Embassy reopening are made in Washington by Dept of State so your “lazy government employees” are depending on that decision. Humble yourself - Immigration is not a right, and no timeline is granted. Even more so under current circumstances. You are physically with your Fiancé, what else do you need? Others are waiting apart from another.

I dont think it would be an issue but he better read the terms of his contract/job offer.

I work virtual too and I dont have any requirement as to where I choose to work. But, my company requires me to full disclosure of my address and if I move.

My husband didn't meet my family until I had my greencard and it has no bearing against any of the immigration processes. (Although it might not be the same case if it is in US Embassy in India or Morocco where family is everything).
I just figured it's better not to jeopardize my relationship and move on in life. My husband understood the situation. I moved and settled in US. Then one day, I thought it's the right time to see them (family in PH). My husband and I paid them a visit. My husband got to travel to Philippines for the first time and get to meet them for the first time.

Status,  money, accomplishments change perspectives in Philippines. It's all in the past now.
So I think you don't need to worry if you don't have a good relationship with your family in Philippines.
Best of luck on your immigration journey!

The right to work is the right to work. It depends on a lot of things and not how long you've been in the country. What is your experience? Schooling? Work history? Skills? What type of job is it? The only area where you may need to be a citizen to get the job is some government jobs.

Thank you! I was approve on the spot. But then, not all US Embassies are created equal. Some are more difficult than others. Unfortunately I am not familiar with US Embassy in Chile.

Hopefully, the CO wouldn't look for it and you'll have a smooth K1 process.

As what others stated above, photos are secondary evidence. Maybe you can supplement it with proof that you've actually lived there for a while and explain your situation.

They asked for a photo during my k1 interview. Back then, we only had 2 pictures at the time of the interview. I handed the only 2 I got (both are even taken the same day ). The CO frowned. And I explained. I told him "my fiance (now husband) dated on the couch over PS4 games. None remembered to take a selfie while watching tv and playing video games.

Bottom line, they could ask for it. You can also explain. But, it's on them if they find it convincing.

SB5130 got a reaction from Nikol993 in SSN for K1 Visa Holder
I got my SSN before marriage. Why:
    1. Driver's license requires SSN
    2. Building credit requires SSN
    3. Filing taxes requires SSN/ITin.
    4. Some health insurance/bank requires SSN
    5. If you missed out, you'll have to wait for EAD/GC. Ead takes 5months atleast these days.
    6. If you have your SSN before marriage, you can update to married name anyways at any time you choose.
    7. I personally feel name change process is a big decision. It's a matter of losing my identity and 90days (validity of I-94) isnt enough for me to think about it.

You can be offended by whatever you choose to be offended by - but the dictionary definition of ‘serial’ is one after another...which is exactly what you’ve posted about. If you want help, getting honest and accurate answers really is the best thing you can hope for, regardless of whether you like them.

You are looking at a high risk country. You are bringing (or attempting to bring) multiple people in. how long the marriages are or what the circumstances are is fairly a moot point.

You will need more than multiple visits. You will need concrete, indisputable EVIDENCE that it is a real marriage. Financial documents (lots of it), intermingling with family, holidays, birthdays, celebrations that may be cultural norms, extensive time together in person, etc

So you brought your parents over 10 yrs ago and they're LPRs (not USC) - looks like never worked in the US so didn't make 40 quarters per SSA. You still have to count them as you're still on the hook for them via I-864 - add your wife and that's 3 people you need to take care of as their sponsor.
