In my opinion, Cummings brought this upon himself.......Did you hear him yelling at the DHS chief about the conditions at the border 2 weeks ago?  While parts of his district are worse....  The big difference between Trump and other Presidents is that he strikes back......

You asked for thoughts and risks.  You have been given them.  You don't like some of the answers because you are set on your path.  Good luck.  Don't ask for help when you really don't want it.  You only want people to tell you that your plan is a good one and it can work.  You think it just requires working out a few kinks.

You know, I am not a gin drinker.....bad experience first week of college so long ago.   I am more into beer.  Was wondering how it might work making beer out of pea starch or other environmentally friendly ingredients.  I have had beer that I believe was made out of skunk piss however.

Oh don't even get me started on minimum wage.

    But since you have...

I come from a country with a firmly entrenched class system. Modern Brits will tell you it's changing, but it's not. Not really. And for good reason.
Americans--and good for you (us)--decided, amongst other things, they wanted an even playing field because they believed the same line that your preschool teachers foisted on you: everything must be fair and equal. Except for the slaves of course, but what's a little hypocrisy amongst revolutionists eh? Fortunately the majority of their other reasons for revolution were more sound and enduring.

The unpopular truth is that Americans have slowly rediscovered in two hundred years what the British have known for over a thousand: the class system works. It is the foundation of any western society, even the US.

In the UK, we have posh titles, pomp, ceremony and such, but don't fool yourself. It's only less formalized in the US, and one aspect is shared: class and wealth go arm in arm.
The wealthy take the risk, invest the wealth, and build the factory or dot com, or whatever. The workers have less invested, and most importantly, can walk away at any time. The wealthy do not have that option. They reap the rewards, yes, but they also incur the failures.

If the worker loses their job because the business failed, he just goes to find another. If the investor's business fails, they might lose everything. Do I get to demand wages back from my employees when my business fails? No, of course not. Yet socialists will have you believe the man who takes the risks must also provide above and beyond for those who only reap benefits.

I can just hear the liberal keyboards warming up, so consider: Unlike most of the history of Britain, in America it's simple to escape your class bonds if you're just willing to put in some work. The formula is simple: If you want the reward, take on the risk. Be a shareholder. If you believe in the organisation enough that you believe it can pay some arbitrary minimum wage, then invest your own wealth in stock and take your minimum wage as the company succeeds. (yes I'm sorry, you may have to cut back from lunching every day at Jack in the Box or drive a Chevy instead of a monster truck, but if you have the veracity to hold a job, then if you truly believe you are owed more than you reap, you will find a way to save, invest, and take control.)

The socialists will tell you how unfair it is to insist the worker invest in the company he works for, that it's too much risk for the worker to bear. Oh the bitter irony. Yet the concern stops at the dear worker, because as much risk as the actual investors are taking on, the socialists are very, very happy to tax the organs of the economy until blood.

Neonred reacted to Dashinka in Purl jam: Finland hosts heavy metal knitting championship
    Kind of following a theme.

JOENSUU, Finland (AP) — Armed with needles and a yarn of wool, teams of avid knitters danced Thursday to the deafening sounds of drums beating and guitars slashing at the first-ever Heavy Metal Knitting World Championship in eastern Finland.
With stage names such as Woolfumes, Bunny Bandit and 9″ Needles, the participants shared a simple goal: to showcase their knitting skills while dancing to heavy metal music in the most outlandish way possible.
“It’s ridiculous but it’s so much fun,” said Heather McLaren, an engineering PhD student who traveled from Scotland for a shot at the “world title.” ″When I saw there was a combination of heavy metal and knitting, I thought ‘that’s my niche.’”
The competition took place in a packed square in the small town of Joensuu close to the Russian border. An eclectic group of around 200 people watched the performances, from families with young children and elderly to the less conspicuous heavy metal fans donning leather-jackets and swirling their long hair to the fast-paced rhythm of the music.
A niche musical genre in many countries, heavy metal is more mainstream in Finland, with several bands household names frequently played on the radio. Its popularity grew further in 2006 when the Finnish band Lordi won the Eurovision Song Contest dressed as monsters.

OP believes the K-1 will be approved, but a medical examine is required, which involves vaccinations, so the K-1 itself might not be granted because the medical would be incomplete (possibly, up to the embassy) and would hope no such waiver for a health related thing like simple vaccinations would exist. You're playing with other people's lives and well being.

Neonred reacted to M&Y_2019 in Do I need a co-sponsor? Meet income requirement but W2s from past two years show low income.
I'm considering whether to use a parent as a cosponsor, but I'm not sure it's necessary. I'd rather not if my income (alone) will be sufficient for the application.

The problem is that I lived in Japan for two years before moving back to the USA and starting the K1 process. I've been taking the FEIE (foreign earned income exclusion) with my tax filings and excluding all income I earned in Japan from US taxation. As such, my AGA for the past two years on tax returns is very low. I also had a period of unemployment last year prior to moving back to the US, which lowered my total income even further. I won't have a tax return that shows my full US-based salary until I file in 2020 for the current tax year (2019).

Will the fact that I am employed now (in the US) and making more than enough income (letter from employer + copy of pay stubs) be sufficient, or is the low income reported on my tax returns from the prior two years going to be a problem? I don't have a substantial amount of other assets or savings.

    Thanks

Neonred reacted to Lorna&Alex in Green Card Interview Yesterday - Not Approved yet - Travelling to Scotland in 4 weeks
    Hey Everyone,

I had my Green Card interview yesterday and it was pretty tough!! The officer was actually super nice and I wouldn't say it was a 'bad' interview, it was just pretty long with lotssssss of questions. We were in there for over an hour. I'll give you an example of one of the questions he asked. He asked what my room number of my dorm was when i studied abroad at an American University for 2 semesters in 2014-15 and i said 'oh gosh i can't remember. i was on the 2nd floor but I don't remember the exact room number. Also, I moved room between both semesters'...he seemed pretty concerned that I couldn't remember my room number, so he said he was going to have to spend some time trying to look it up. Anyways, that's kind of besides the point. Towards the end of the interview he asked for some evidence of our marriage, so we gave him Joint bank account, Life insurance, health insurance, phone bill, gym membership, wedding cards, wedding invitation and photos from our wedding. He asked for more photos of our relationship that wasn't just the wedding, so I told him that I didn't print any because I included those photos with the K1 visa. He basically said that he might send us an RFE for more photos of our relationship but he also might not because he is pretty certain that our relationship is legit. He said within 2 weeks I will either get an approval notice or an RFE for more photos. It was a little disheartening because, to be honest, this whole process has been fairly smooth sailing for us and we've never received any RFEs...but if he wants more photos, I can absolutely send him more photos!!
SO now comes the main question lol....a while ago (before I knew about my interview) my husband and I booked up to fly to scotland for 5 days using my AP card. we are flying to scotland on July 11th (roughly 4 weeks from now) If my Green Card isn't approved before then, can i still fly to scotland using my current AP card?? \
    Thank you!!
