Marriage through Utah online marriage without meeting in person with my girlfriend

Hello fellow VJ. Please I need an advice. I and my Girlfriend(USC) haven’t met in person due to the nature of her work (US army). We are planning to meet anytime this year but we don’t know exact date. Is it advisable we both get married through Utah online marriage and wait until we finally meet and then apply for CR-1 or should we leave the online marriage until we meet?

Meet in person first before even thinking about the next steps.  You're getting ahead of yourself.  Marriage, and especially one that involves being separated for long periods of time, living in two different countries, and includes a long, expensive, and frustrating US immigration process, requires a great deal of commitment and patience.  Slow and steady wins the race.  An online relationship plus online marriage and one face to face meeting prior to your girlfriend filing an I-130 petition is very likely to lead to a denial given your country and the high incidence of fraud there.  Multiple visits with lots of in person time should be your first priority before thinking about anything else.  Good luck, I hope it eventually works out for you and your girlfriend!

Thanks 🤝

Where is she stationed right now?  Does she have an account here on VJ?

Setting aside the risks of marrying someone you’re never met, from the perspective of immigration strategy, you should get married now.  The longer you are married, the more likely that you will enter the USA on your immigration visa two years or more after your date of marriage.

She cannot file I-130 until you’ve met in person after you’ve married (or met during the marriage ceremony).

Also Nigeria is considered a high fraud country and some couples end up living in Nigeria for a time before successfully getting an immigration visa. Given she is service member of the Army, that might not be feasible.

Thanks 🙏🏼

U meet and do not marry on the 1st visit

then you can meet and marry in any country and apply for the CR1

but a zoom marriage without meeting at all is a definite NO NO

She’s stationed in the states

so,  she can get her leave and come to meet u

then file for  a K1 (which still needs lots of facetime together and she would need more visits)

or return to marry at a later date

she should really join this site

giving her the info she needs to know what to do is best

as all this is dependent on a petition she would file

What works best for EVERYONE when it comes to U.S. immigration is to meet FIRST before anything else.
