Is it a good time to apply citizenship

I was wondering if some one can put some light if its a good time to apply for US citizenship or should I wait few more months to apply when hope fully Biden takes over the office. I am currently eligible for early applying for a five year citizenship.

There are no 5 year citizenships, it is permanent.......  sorry couldn't resist, I am sure you meant eligibility based on 5 years of residency.  My wife just filed hers on the 1st of November.  No reason to wait, even if you file today, it will be a couple months before they even do your prints for the background check.  

 

We planned on filing as soon as she became eligible no matter which candidate won, but at least now we are breathing a bit easier because we wish to petition her mother once she has her citizenship and Trump was getting a bit heavy handed with his edicts.  

 

I would apply as soon as you can and do it online, very easy, much more convenient than having to file a paper form and mail a ton of evidence.

Hey thank you for pointing out yes I mean 5 year residency and I know its going to be a couple of months but was wondering because every thing is backed up so much at the moment.

You can file at any time. A President is not going to change citizenship or how it is processed

If you want to become a citizen and you qualify it makes no sense to wait. The longer you wait to file the longer you wait to become a citizen.

File now.  There is no reason to wait.  You will wait in line, potentially a long time depending on the field office.

the only thing that might change with administration change is the fees (as asked for and approved) could be reinstated and citizenship would cost about twice as much

Yeah one of my friend said the same thing to me yesterday that's ita better to apply now than in future with possibly higher fee.

Yes, your friend has a good point and besides, the Biden administration is going to be taking over in just a couple months. Two months is too soon for most citizenship applications to be adjudicated anyways, so you might as well just get your application in line.

Not hopefully, Biden WILL be the President at noon on January 20th, no matter what the toddler in the office now has to say. Biden won.

No one can tell you what will happen as far as immigration goes after Jan 20 but my husband applied for citizenship in Nov of 2016, before the toddler in chief took office, and he was approved and sworn in within 3 months. Hopefully immigration will speed up once we have an administration that doesn't go out of it's way to sabotage it.
