Friends brother is in hospital, can she visit?

Hi guys,

 

Got a friend who is in need of some information, her brother had a brain haemorrage tonight and is in critical status in ICU at the hospital in NYC. He is an LPR, are there any loopholes for her to come over here on an emergency visa or something? Besides having to go to a travel corridor country for 14 days prior.

If she can use the VWP and go through say Mexico for 2 weeks she should be allowed entry, others have done this.

if only the airlines allow her to board. that is the difficult question here. she might qualify for emergency reason in this case

If she can wait out a quarantine in a non-banned country, then she should be able to enter fine. Just check in at the desk, not online, when using the ESTA/VWP (some people have had issues with this).

No "loophole" or "emergency visa".

 

NIW is possible, but at the same time, I personally think this carries a bit of a risk as well. If they say no, they could end up revoking the ESTA as well.

Not only this obstacle but she would have to quarantine for 14 days in New York so you are looking at Possibly a month Out if things don’t change

There is no "emergency reason", we're in the middle of a worldwide pandemic. She would have to go to an outside country, like Mexico, to quarantine for 14 days before entering the U.S.

thank you everyone for your replies, its basically what i thought. she will call the US embassy in London just to make sure.

I'd say it would be fitting to also call the hospital and find out their COVID visitor policy.  It would be a shame for her to quarantine, fly over, and then be turned away because the ICU is not allowing visitors.
