Expedite for Humanitarian Reasons

My wife is a US trained and licensed physician, currently residing in her home country pending processing of our I-130 (which has been pending over a year).  Since she is ready, willing and able to immediately move to the US to start treating COVID-19 patients, do you think this would rise to the level of a humanitarian crisis such that they would expedite our application?

No, since all embassies are closed to the interviewing and issuing of visas right now.

Can't see there being a physician shortage to that effect.  Nurses, yes.

If the curve doesn't bend we will run out of resources at every level.   Burnout will become an issue at some point.

YMMV

Perhaps.  But most of the direct patient care is done by nurses, and there has been a nursing labor shortage for the past 20 years.

How about a kidney specialist hooking you up to a dialysis machine?  Kidney failure is one of the largest causes of death for COVID-19 patients.

No harm in requesting it. Almost no chance of it getting approved.

Also note that you would likely be talking at a bare minimum a few months still. Expedites are faster, not fast. And with visa services at the consulate closed, there's not going to be an interview anytime soon either.

Thanks - sounds about right.  Been living apart from my wife and kids for almost 4 years now and not looking forward to another delay.  Grasping for anything I can at this point.

The person hooking you up to dialysis would be a dialysis RN.

No harm in trying. Ignore negative comments here. I heard that they are giving visas or at least discussing to bring more doctors to US. Demand is here.

You can try, nothing stopping you from that. Expect delays regardless because of the virus.
