UC Citizen Visit US Embassy to Inquire Status

I believe entrance to the Embassy would not be a problem, they have American Citizen services. Certainly in London that would not help as you would want to get into the Consulate.

I suppose you could ask the Embassy to look up what is going on but then we come around to why not do it online and save the trip.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

^ i was using embassy/consulate interchangeably. In point of fact the US embassy in my home country does not issue visas, only the consulates do; so that is where i saw USCs entering.

You just described insanity. Doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result. She will be wasting her time and the embassy time all she can do is wait. Her time would be better spent being with her husband and enjoying the time together. If she goes to embassy she will just be annoyed by the same answer they already gave her.

While she can request an appointment for American Citizen Services, however anything related to a visa / green card would be referred back to CEAC for status.

If as a US citizen she is allowed to go to the US Embassy to inquire about her husband’s visa status, how would she go about scheduling the appointment?

No.  She would need to inquire by email, like everyone else.  The embassy services for US citizens are for actual emergencies and urgent matters, not visa inquiries.

My cousin did send an email to inquire about her husband’s visa status since it’s been more than 6 months and no update. However, she did not receive any relavant information.

Not at all uncommon for Pakistan.

don't know how different embassies around the world are but i definitely remember when waiting in line for one of my tourist visa appointments, USCs would just arrive, go straight to the front, show passport to security and say they needed X and be allowed in. None of them seemed to have appointments (no paper shown or names checked against a list etc as was the case for those of us with appointments)

i'd say if she happens to be in the same city she may as well try. Yes she may not be told anything more than he is still on AP but it feels different being told it by a person than getting the same email they send everyone.

Likely for the type of services offered to overseas USCs, not IV inquiries.

I've been in US embassies in many different countries.  It's all about the same. There is one side USC can get into without a appointment, but it's just for general help, lost my passport, need help with getting paperwork certified, etc. That's the easy side to get into. The other entrance or side is the consulate side, think Visa's and things like that. As most people have said, you aren't getting in there without an appointment. You can try walking into the general side, and hope it's not too busy, but they will probably say we don't have anything to do with that, sorry. That's if you get past the general information desk, and get a number to wait to be called. But anything's worth a try.

Here on a K1? Need married and a Certificate in hand within a few hours? I'm here to help. Come to Vegas and I'll marry you Vegas style!!   Visa Journey members are always FREE for my services. I know the costs involved in this whole game of immigration, and if I can save you some money I will!

Hi,

My US citizen cousin got married in Pakistan in January 2018 and her husband had his interview in June 2019. Since his interview the case has been in administrative processing with no status update.

My cousin is planning on going to Pakistan to visit her husband in March and she wants to the following:

As a US citizen is she allowed to go (with or without an appointment) to the US Embassy in Islamabad to inquire about her husband’s case status/ visa status?

Thanks for advice. She is very stressed out.

My cousin did send an email to inquire about her husband’s visa status since it’s been more than 6 months and no update. However, she did not receive any relavant information.

It's a waste of time....(you're time and theirs).  If you read the website and the services for American checking the status is not one..you use to the online portal for that.  They will most likely be annoyed send her on her way after telling her what she already knows.  You can not push a case....not matter how hard you try.

It will be a waste of time and nothing good will come of it.

There was a case in 2019 where a VJ contributor decided to get a lawyer for a similar situation.  The lawyer told the contributor she could get results and did.

If interested I will dig up the post.

Those days are long gone.

Consider how many horrific attacks there have been in USA embassies and consulates in the past 50 years.  The State department has said enough is enough.

I recollect that, unclear what if anything the Lawyer did. My guess coincidental.
