I'm asking for the rules not your personal red flags. I support my wife and children if you see that as red flag then good for you.

Not the support part, I have no question in that. I think any consular officer would see it  as a red flag, so as a friend, I would like to point that out to you, in order for you to try to remedy that before going into an interview.

Can you tell the whole story?

Thank you so there is no official such rule but they might see it as red flag? Sorry I was a bit rude, I take big pride supporting my family

Put yourself in the shoes of the consular officer, who has about 5 minutes to read your files and decide whether or not this marriage is real.

What other evidence do you have for a bona fide marriage?

No rule of having to met in the past 2 years for cr1 but it does hurt the “evidence” part of a marriage.

There is no USCIS "rule" for meeting in a spousal petition.

However, like @USS_Voyager said, you may have a hard time showing that the marriage is bonafide since you have not spent time with your wife in 3 years and assuming you have very little evidence like comingling of assets, joint checking and credit card accounts and other thing titled together.

Have you at least filed taxes as married?

you may not agree with answers but it is a red flag if you are not able to see your wife in 3 years

and for many countries,  sending money (even to a spouse )  is another red flag

not being able to afford a trip???? i would say that to

for best advise you should post the country

say if this is an arranged marriage

and keep some of that support money and go see your spouse

you have to satisfy immigration here / not yourself

many people make several trips because of the embassy they deal with

I tried googling but only find search results for the K1 visa having the rule. Does the marriage Visa also have this rule?

We haven't met for three years because of lack of money as I support my wife financially.

Obviously I have proof of this financial support.

Not being able to see your wife for 3 years could raise a rad flag at the interview.  May no prove to be a truly bona fide marriage, even though you do support her financially.  The question may be raised to why you havent seen each other for so long, so be prepared.

To illustrate how important time spent together is, I traveled to Brazil to see my husband 9 times in the two years before his spousal visa was approved.  Photos and boarding passes and passport stamps from all of those trips, plus lots of financial co-mingling evidence, and his visa was approved 11 months after I filed the I-130 petition package, with no RFEs or delays.  You can always try with less evidence, but don't expect smooth sailing, depending on the country where the visa interview will be conducted.

This sounds a bit confusing.

1) K-1 is NOT for married couples

2) By "we haven't met" do you mean you've lived apart for 3 years? I hope it doesn't mean you're already married and want to marry somebody else.

3) How is it that you experience "lack of money" and yet support your wife financially?

4) Are you a US Citizen? If so, how did you manage to become one without your spouse? If not, what are we talking about?
