Buying a flight ticket on behalf of someone else

Good day everyone, first I want to appreciate everyone on here who as one way or the other made my k1 visa application run smoothly.

I would like to be clarified regarding buying a flight ticket. My fiancé bought my ticket online from the states using card payment, and then sent me the confirmation page via email. so I would like to know what other thing I would need to have or probably print out aside the booking confirmation page in which I need to tender during check in at the airport.

Sometime the agent at the airport will ask for the credit card which used to purchase the ticket, so ask your fiance scan that credit card and email it to you just in case.

I booked my fiance's plane tickets prior to her arrival in the U.S.  She just checked in with her ID and had no issues at all.  As long as the ID matches the name on the ticket, should be good.

You'll have to check with the airline; different airlines do things differently. But usually you'll be fine with the booking number and a valid ID (and since this is your trip to the US, you'll have your passport with you).

 

I know Anastasia never had any problems using tickets I bought for her to meet me in third countries or on her flight to the US with her K-1, and I just sent her copies of the confirmation email.

Echoing others who said that some airlines may ask for the credit card.

One way to find out for sure is to call them and find out if this is needed.

Delta asks this for certain countries, Ghana being one of the. Every time my mother in law goes to Accra for a visit, and we bought her a ticket we have to go to the airport and show the credit card. She is in NYC and we are in Minneapolis, but we just go to MSP and they clear something in the reservation and then she can check in. Definitely worth calling the airline in advance.

A few years ago, Philippines based air carrier ( Phil Air, etc) was asking for the credit card or a credit card copy to board the plane.

do you have to change planes outside the USA ?

if so,  is the ticket bought in 2 parts , like flying to say Paris and picking up a new ticket to Boston?

most European countries and airlines allow a US visa holder to change planes unless the ticket is in 2 parts 

one to Europe and pick up a new one to the US

so,  check on this so you don't need a visa in another country

most flights from Africa pass thru Europe for a change of planes

 

and buying online the site often has 2 separate tickets / one you pick up in Europe

My wife had this on on of her connections (her flight was a single ticket with multiple stops). They wanted a signed scan of the credit card.

 

Edit: I think it was with Oman Air.

I can add  my personal experience travelling from Lagos: Take a scanned image of the credit card used to make the purchase.  

 

One other thing to consider is have your US spouse present the credit card at the airline's ticket desk at an airport a day or two before your travel date.
