The topic of children come up often. The key thing isn't having children but jointly taking care of the children.

I don't believe they are not evidence, but they are only 1 very small amount of the total picture. Scammers want children too, especially if they believe it will get/keep a green card.

The point is to put together a strong case from all angles. No single piece is a holy grail. If you have children, it's fine ot include evidence of that. If you have evidence of financial commingling, that's great. Everything tells a piece of the story. The clearer the picture, the less likely to raise questions.

It seems odd to me because our bank statements (we have 2 joint accounts) do not even show which person did which transaction, it's just one big list of transactions with no details...so in theory, it could just have both of our names on it but only one of us uses it, there's no way to show that we both use it. 🤷‍♀️ The credit card statements, however, do show this information...so it's weird that the credit card statements are not strong compared to the bank statements. In our case, the credit card statements just show much more co-mingling than the bank statements.

True, you can't see who used the account (Edit: at least in many cases). But that's not really necessary...they're looking for regular activity and joint expenses, not who-spent-what.

For example, if all house utilities were paid by me alone, is that any worse than if we split them? We both benefited from the utilities. We both pay a price if they aren't paid. Who pays it doesn't matter.

OK, so if one is sending in all bank statements, is it necessary to also send in copies of the debit cards to said accounts as well? In our case, they have different numbers.

Our statements on our checking account show our names here and there (especially when we use our personal PayPal accounts, Target RedCard debit card and obviously our salaries show with our names too), but our names aren't on every transaction, far from it.

I will be sending every statement but not pictures if our debit cards (just like with you guys ours have different numbers). Only the credit cards.

Hm, well if USCIS is getting stricter and feels people need to send in every single statement, it's understandable why processing times have slowed down. I'm assuming they actually look through every statement if they send people RFE's requesting them....what a fun job that must be! 🙄

So, if credit card statements aren't as strong as bank statements, and my husband and I have 4 credit card accounts...does it even make sense to bother sending statements from all of these cards? I was thinking about sending in just 1 "year end summary" from the main one that we use...the others mostly just sit there and are used rarely, just a few times a month at best.

Send quarterly statements - just need to show activity on the card really, according to previous posters.

Here's my list so far...I don't know if all of this is 100% necessary but I'm just trying to be thorough:

Bank & credit card stuff:

  • Bank statements from 2 different joint bank accounts - (I'm now planning to include all statements based on advice received here)
  • Address change notification letter from bank w/ both names
  • Copies of voided checks from both checking accounts - shows both of our names
  • Copies of credit card letter showing cards and same address
  • Year-end summary showing expenses in detail for 2018 for said cards
  • Statements from other credit cards where my husband is authorized user

Car stuff:

  • Copy of car title showing both names
  • Copy of car registration showing both names
  • Copy of car insurance cards w/ both names
  • Copies of car insurance policy statements w/ both names

Cohabitation:

  • Copy of leases in both names from 2 apartments we lived in - only the front page as including the whole lease seems insane
  • Copy of cancelled rent checks
  • Lease renewal letter addressed to both of us
  • Electricity bill statements in both names
  • Renter's insurance policies in both names
  • Notice to enter unit - it has both of our names on it

Insurance stuff:

  • Life insurance policy showing beneficiary info
  • Letters from health insurance companies at the same address (my job doesn't offer insurance for spouses so we don't share insurance but we have the same insurance provider..it's complicated and I will explain this in the cover letter)
  • Other misc docs showing we have the same insurance company and the same address

Tax stuff:

  • IRS transcripts
  • Local city tax bill with both names
  • Copy of federal and state tax returns
  • Copies of W-2 forms

Travel proof:

  • Plane tickets from travel abroad together
  • Copies of both of our passport pages showing stamps from same international travel destinations and dates
  • Train tickets in both of our names
  • Copy of travel insurance policy in both names

Misc stuff:

  • Photos with family and friends, photos of just the 2 of us
  • Screenshot of Amazon Prime Household account with linked accounts and credit cards - shows both names
  • Letters from the DMV showing that we updated our addresses to match driver's licenses
  • Driver's licenses with same address (we have different addresses on the front, the DMV here sent us stickers with the new address to attach to the back of the cards)
  • Copy of my husband's will listing me as beneficiary in Russian that we made when I lived in Russia (w/ translation)
  • Marriage certificate w/translation
  • Other misc. mail that shows our names and received at the same address

I also just ordered the Target debit card and added my husband to that...so I will probably include that too once his card arrives.

We actually have two joint accounts through a credit union and the CU provided the documents that showed both of us were controlling both accounts.  We did not send in any bank statements at all because they really don't show anything of detail.  One thing we did do was to create simple wills and living wills for each other.

Am I missing anything?

This seems like a good list.  That is the thing about ROC, no ones list is going to be the same.  Good luck with the wait!  As to the interview, did you and your wife have an interview for the AOS?  If so, you may not have one for the ROC.  One thing that may change that is if she plans to file the N400 when her window opens even with the ROC still in process, that may drive an interview.

One other suggestion, you may consider getting wills and living wills for each other.  You can do simple ones through the online sources, and in my opinion. it looks good.  You don't necessarily need them before you submit the package though.  If you do end up with an interview, you can add them to the package at that time along with your updated tax information since filing the I751.

Good Luck!

When it comes to your tax returns make sure you are submitting the IRS tax return transmittal and not just a copy of your return.  You can go to www.irs.gov and get an instant copy after you confirm who you are.  Or you request copies mailed to you.  You will also need them when you apply for US citizenship in a few years!

God bless

I think child is much more string evidence than the house deed. You can add to  house deed than remove later  but child is forever.

shows you had sex not a bonafide marriage.
