N-400 Denied (anyone who intends to file the day they become eligible, read this)

"Only" a day early cannot be approved by law. It's not discretionary. It's not something where sympathy can legally change the result.

 

The OP was able to get the decision reversed, though. They have recognized that it was not filed a day early.

@HypnosOnce again, Congrats. I am so happy for you and you will to fight for what you knew was right. And not giving up in the sea of doubters and useless posts on pointing the fingers because you and many others, decided to file on the day of eligibility. I am sure there are and have been many more in your situation, that didn't challenge the decisions based on fear, frustration or even from post from people spent their energy focusing on blaming the applicant for being "desperate", "impatient" etc. Before your denial was overturned, this link was shared on an N-400 group on facebook and one applicant in the same situation as you after reading it (except she had not yet gone for her interview), sent a formal withdrawal of her application and planned on not attending her biometrics. 

So you can imagine how important your story is. I just wish you can create another another post, more instructional specifically for people whose PD shows a different date and have it pinned to the top of the forum. That way even they can easily find it on here and search engines (for those that aren't on forums)

I had my oath earlier today (well, yesterday now) in Dallas. There were 110 people being naturalised from 35 different countries, with the most being 23 from India and 24 from Mexico.

 

There was a minor issue where I had to scribble out the name of my home town on the "Signed at" location on the N-445 questionnaire, since I had already filled that in before arriving. The MC announced that only Dallas or Irving was acceptable there, but it was a quick fix.

 

Other than that it was a nice event, with a lot of people there, and friends and family. One of the cops I know from the PD showed up, which was a really nice touch and meant a lot.

 

So, this chapter of my life is now over. Onto the next...

My sympathy goes out to you for having to go through this ordeal.

If it happened to our case, I would probably be in straight jacket in mental ward.

If you're somewhere that you get a much shorter wait than I did (I waited a year at Dallas), and if you know you don't need US citizenship for a pressing issue, then sure. Just be prepared for the possibility.
