Maduro severing Venezuelan relations with US

We haven’t has a story from the socialist paradise lately, but it appears things are a foot.

 

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on Wednesday said he's cutting off relations with the U.S. and giving American diplomats 72 hours to exit the country.

The socialist leader ordered a review of Venezuela's relationship with the U.S. hours after the Trump administration officially recognized opposition leader Juan Guaidoas the nation's interim president.

 

A day earlier, Vice President Mike Pence sent a recorded video to Venezuelans referring to Maduro as "a dictator with no legitimate claim to power."

'Maduro must go': Pence officially backs Venezuelan opposition, condemns President Maduro

"He has never won the presidency in a free and fair election, and has maintained his grip on power by imprisoning anyone who dares to oppose him," Pence said in the video.

Hours after the video was sent on Tuesday, Maduro spoke on state television, saying that Pence had brought about a 200-year low in relations between the two countries by authorizing a coup.

I have to admit I disagree with the Trump admin on this. What they say about Maduro may be true but at the end of the day we need to stay out of it. Giving their opinion publicly on the matter is okay but if it goes beyond that with actions I can't go along with that.

I'm so glad a lot of the international community is FINALLY putting their foot down; the OEA, the UN (which I always saw as a lion without teeth, but whatev) and other peeps that I'm not too familiar with. My husband keeps up with that more than me. They are making his world reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaallly small. Yesterday the national army was gave an official statement that they also no longer recognize Maduro so that's cool. I mean, as the president of the Parliament Sr. Guaido has the right to take over, I think, according to their own constitution until they hold elections.

 

Hoping the Nicaraguan president dictator and his wife witch vice president are watching this unfold, pee their pants, and see the storm coming their way.

Hoo, brother:  the situation with asylee Venezolanos in Ecu is boiling over.  The following comes from Mrs. T-B. and her reliable sources.

 

Not long ago, a Venezolano killed a taxi driver.  Native Ecus were highly displeased.

 

Last week, a Venezolano in a town north of Quito killed his pregnant girlfriend in public, in front of the police and everyone.  The native Ecus have gone door to door in search for Vs, quite literally throwing them out onto the streets and destroying/burning their stuff.  Ecu's president (Lenin Moreno) is going to have to do something about these asylee Vs, because nobody wants them.  Previously, he decreed that none would be permitted entry into Ecu unless they had papers (passport, etc.).

 

Imagine if we here did the same when an illegal Mexican, Hondureno, or Salvadoreno committed a murder or crime.  Social-justice warriors would be out in force to support them.

  If it is economic and political pressure, I am fine with that. I don't want to see a return to military and CIA meddling in Central America. There seems to be broad international consensus for the legitimacy of Guaido. I have no problem with taking that position.

 

  I give you kudo's for your consistency. Trump would certainly be characterized as a non interventionist and I believe you have called him out whenever he has looked like he might stray from that approach. I also support that aspect of his policy, but even as a non interventionist, you can't always stand by and watch. Sometimes you need to be ready to give a little push in the right direction. Or at least the appearance that you can. The important thing is knowing when to stop pushing.

That's the issue I have here. Where do you draw the line. I choose to error on the side of caution and simply mind our own business. As soon as our national security is directly threatened that is when I would intervene and only to the extent needed to ensure our national security. It seems to me like the conflict in Venezuela is over natural resources more than anything else. I understand the viewpoint that people fleeing Venezuela could pose a national security risk but only indirectly and there are other ways to deal with that (border security). The only type of wars I am in favor of are defensive wars.

Bit short sighted if you ask me. National security could be threatened if you don't step in in time and by the time you know it it could be too late. I prefer the proactive approach

I can think of lots of examples where staying out was the wrong move and vice versa.
