I ship a package (at expense) and there is a fee at the door for delivery.  (1000 peso).  The embassy ships her P3 packet, and they charge fee for delivery (500 peso).

She pays Visa fee at the bank, and the bank charge her 500 pesos.

Why so many fees?

Also the bank teller told her she needs to open a bank account or they will deny the visa.  (She doesn't have a bank account)

Do I need to have her open a bank account?   Why was none of this ever explained before?  (I am very concerned about this bank account requirement)

No she doesn't need a bank account.  Mine did set one up and it was cheaper for me to put money from the US into that account.

If you are moaning and groaning about fees this early in the process, you will be doing some serious moaning and groaning about fees later!

We are almost at the end of the process.

I just want to find out what is legitimate vs if she is being scammed ...

The fees for the Visa may be almost done but the fees for immigration have just begun and much higher than what you have experienced

Bank accounts are not required

You show a K-1 in process, after that you have Adjustment of status , and if your fiancé wants citizenship later then there is Naturalization Fees.  You don't realize it but you really are early in the process.  It's fees for everything!!

Oh, that's fine.  I understand that.  I'm just talking about the K1 process at the moment.

AOS ($1225)

Removal of conditions on her green card two years after that ($595)

Either naturalization another year after that ($640) or renewing her green card every ten years indefinitely ($455 each time)

(those are the current fees, and subject to change over time, by which we mean go up)

To be fair I don’t think the OP is complaining about legitimate fees to do with the immigration process like application fees. Everyone who gets into the immigration netherworld knows fees are part of what is.

His gripe seems to be more about unexplained fees which seem to crawl out of the woodwork.

I am not in this world to live up to your expectations,

Neither are you here to live up to mine.

I don't owe no one no obligation
So everything is fine, fine

I said, I am that I am I am, I am, I am

Maybe your fiance just misunderstood the bank teller. Remember there is another way to pay the visa which is using your bank account but its not really necessary.. also take note that some bpi branch has no idea about the visa fee so you have to really explain to them what it is and if the bpi aware of visa fee they usually prioritize your payment and yea beside of Visa fee there is service fee but its not 500 pesos i think.

I dont remember the p3 in k1 visa though.

Welcome to Philippines!! 😂😂😂
