I thought there is no need to upload photo anymore as it will be taken at application service center. Please correct me as I already submitted DS160 without photo . Or is it different for different embassies?

Oh the information is specifically for the Lagos Consulate in Nigeria.

Okay, so we tried to schedule our interview before the case was actually received at the embassy but now it is definitely there and our CEAC status shows ready. Afghanistan does not use the Travel Docs website but they do have the NIV appointment system website. He has all of our documents ready to go and he completed his medical last week.

Can I go ahead and schedule his interview on the NIV appointment system??

I know the K-1 is treated as an immigrant Visa but there is conflicting information out there as to what exactly needs to be done.. it doesn't help that many of the websites are down due to Gov shutdown...

Kabul is terrible at responding to emails. Any information is appreciated, thank you

I agree! Getting an interview in less than 3 weeks after your case was received at the consulate? They must not be very busy at the Ukraine Consulate.

Not only that but just fast movement at the NVC in general. You've also moved at a good pace (case # in 4 days!). Did you call every day until you got it?

I did request to expedite my case. I just got an email regarding the expedite saying I will be receiving a letter. It never was clear if it was approved because I expedited it or that it was around the time I should have been approved. And honestly on the 13 of December I called NVC and they said they had just assigned my case number. I couldn't believe it. I'm surprised myself how quickly everything happened from NOA 2 to interview. They had availability at Kiev embassy even before yesterday's date but fiancé needed to gather his documents so it took a little bit. It's such a long process and I have been in your shoes and all I can say is that this has been testing everyone's patience to the max. (I didn't expedite it through NVC, just USCIS) I hope everything works out soon for you as well. 💕

DS-160 is a uniform document with relative difference for each embassy. Each Embassy uses the DS-160 at the interview. But, the completeness is required for all DS -160 including pictures or you will face a 221(g) to back and correct and then return the new DS-160 to the embassy. It's always best to do what is asked for on the forms to avoid delays.

@Greenbaum, there was no option to upload photo . All it said was the photo will be taken at ASC .

For Brazil it's not required/possible to upload the passport photo for the ds-160. That's probably the same for their country.

That's a new one on me. Never heard that before. Well then you must follow their procedure. Let me know what you had to do and if you were successful or not.

I continue to learn. I am going to make a note of this for those countries that you bring the photo to the interview. Thanks for the heads up.

BTW did you submit photos at your interview for the DS-160?

It's not new if the embassy in your country has VAC the will be take the picture right there, don't worry about it. The VAC it's the the office that you going for fingerprint and picture before the interview in the embassy. In Dominican Republic the embassy use VAC and u have to make an appointment for the picture and fingerprint before the interview with the CO.

It's been like that since I got my tourist visa 8 years ago. We have CASV, we make an appointment to provide fingerprint and take picture. For K1, they used to do the at the embassy, but they started using CASV since September 2018.
