Are you a us citizen or a permanent green card holder?

How were you able to become a US citizen so quickly?

That program is called fast track to US citizenship and was intended to give citizenship to a recruit who signed up for service and completed basic training. No green card was needed, but the citizenship could be withdrawn if the recruit did not serve and complete his/her enlistment. I'm pretty sure that the program is not available now. But here is a link to read up on it.

Good evening,

i am a US citizen and have met someone online who i fell in love with. After 8 visits in the past 5 months i have decided to get married.  My question is if he is from Colombia but living in Mexico could that be a problem?  He is in Mexico under a tourist permit.

Neither of us have ever been married,  no criminal hostory, no children.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  The more and more i read i just overthink and over analyze things and get a small sense of being overwhelmed.

He will need to be interviewed in Columbia as the Mexican tourist visa is only valid for 6 months.  If obtains temporary or permanent residence in Mexico he can be interviewed in Juarez.

Juarez as in across the Texas/Mexico border?  If so that would be great because i am living in Texas.

I am going to see how to go about getting him temporary residence in Mexico.  Yes the tourist is valid for 6 months but they keep giving him a new one every 6 months. He has been doing that for 2 years now.

A friend of his told him for us to get married in Colombia and then file for his visa and not do the k1. But im not sure what is faster.

Hey there. Your partner will have to get a police report from all place he or she has lived in the last 6 months.. Also, k1 seems to go faster than the spousal visa but either way, witb the k1 you'll have to adjust status once your partner gets to the U. S. Decide on which way you want to go so we can give further advice

CR1 might take a bit longer but then your partner can work and travel right away. It is also cheaper and the path towards citizenship begins upon entry.  Police clearance will be needed from Columbia and from each country lived in for more than 6 months.  In Mexico it will need to be state or federal level reports.  To interview they will need to show legal proof of residency.

We just got our Immigrant Visa from Cuidad Juarez.  That is the only post that processes immigrant visas in Mexico.
