Awesome..

(numerous US visitors over the years have had babies, some of whom did not have access to funds, and thus leaving US taxpayers to foot the bill. They later come back seeking guidance on how to go about getting a green card.)

So your son is happy to move to the US, find somewhere to live, get a job, then sponsor you? I presume he doesn’t have a family of his own to take over, or he’d have to go through the same kind of process to sponsor them. Do you have any other family in the US to support him?

Your son needs to be living in the us and either earning above the poverty line or have a  cosponsor who is to petition for you, also he must be willing to petition for you which he may not be once he finds out about the financial responsibility including the potential cost of health insurance for you.

If he doesn’t put the petition in then you have no path to a visa. There is no automatic without a petition I have a us citizen kid so here is your green card visa.

Didn’t you post about this earlier this year?

Yes once he is 21 he can petition for you. But he has to meet the domicile requirements too. But if you are referring to "right away". No you won't get a green card.

Ah! The value of the boychild, and so much for the girlchild!

Bless my firstborn for being a girlchild

A love child of my youth

And the last two...

A boychild for my middle years

And a little imp for my waning years!

I posit I'm illegible for three greencards!

But then I didn't borned them

My first borned the girlchild

And my second borned the boychilds

   Two!

But I did score penalties three

   So give me my cards

Colour them green

   Because the tadpoles swam

And caused the flowers of venus to bloom!

Puh!

Which is an interesting age to be prepared to, apparently, move across the world with the sole purpose of sponsoring your mother for a green card.
