Kate.Alday reacted to shammu in N400 Application - "500 Error" after I Paid the fee
Completed the N-400 today. Once done, it prompted me to Pay and I did that as well. After the Pay transaction, it errored out right away (with "500 Error"). Multiple sign out and sign in on different browsers results in the same.

    ERROR:

    500 Error
    We're sorry, something went wrong.

    QUESTIONS:

What can I do? How do I tell whether my N400 is promptly submitted?  Will I be receiving emails about my submission anytime soon? What kind of correspondence can I expect next?  Will I be given a case number? If so, how and when (approximately).
Payment does show up on my credit card as pending. Also received a payment confirmation email from the system. But no other information available.

    Please help.

And I just submitted my N-400!  I'm applying with 3 year rule and I am hoping they can use my biometrics that I got done for I-751.

To be fair I could have submitted it a month ago but my brain thought 90 days from 20th November is 20th of September not 20th August... But hopefully that one month won't hinder the process too much!

I live in Colorado and looking forward to see where my case ends up!

We in same boat. Me (CR1) and my kids (CR2). Don’t worry you will all together on interview. We called NVC about 2 month ago and asked same question when cases of my kids got DQ and mine not. They said it’s family immigration and who first get DQ, will reserve a place in the interview queue for all.

Kate.Alday reacted to ma06 in Expeditious Naturalization (INA319B)-A Complete Experience Report
Update: Got done with naturalization! Process was easy and straightforward. I also had ROC application pending so that had to be adjudicated prior to N400.

First of all, IO asked to see the itinerary and made sure departure date is within 45 days of the interview

ROC itself was pretty easy. Just basic questions about marriage (how we met, where we live, latest tax returns and if I'd like to add anything else to the evidence and that was about it) and was approved. IO may be just doing stuff on the computer so don't be alarmed if you feel they're not attentive or interacting with you enough.

Then proceeded to N400 civics, reading and writing. At the end of it, IO made sure to tell me 319b entails I stay with my spouse for the whole time of their assignment. Then, I signed a few things on the tablet and was told I passed and the application would be approved. I was given same day oath ceremony which was within a few hours. If your interview is on a Monday you may be asked to come back for oath the next day.

To be honest, we chatted a lot of about other random stuff in between and that made me feel more comfortable at the interview.

    Few things to note:

    - At the check in desk downstairs, they may not be able to find your name or may be confused. Tell them you're under military (even if you're just 319b and not necessarily military) and they should be able to figure it out or the supervisor will point it out to them. Obviously if they find your name then no need to mention military or anything. Same at the check in desk upstairs.

    - Second thing: Don't worry if others who came in after you are done or called in before you are. That's because there is only 1 officer handling 319b/military cases (At least on the day I was interviewing) and other people are under non 319b cases. I had to wait for about 30-45 minutes before I was called in.

Oath ceremony was very quick. No guests are allowed due to covid which is understandable.

And that was it. I am now a US citizen and no longer have to deal with USCIS!  Overall experience with the IO: 10/10. He was excellent and very helpful  🥳

    Good luck to you all!

Yes, you need to file i90 to have her GC replaced (for free). Keeping it will create a problem during naturalization.

Just wanted to share our story which sounds more like a thriller now .We have been waiting for our visa for 1.5 years now .One month ago we applied for an expedite request at NVC and got approved .My God we were the happiest couple in the world .According to rules ,the embassy should process the documents and arrange an interview within 4 weeks after that .HOWEVER ,one week later ,I decided to check my visa status which showed REFUSED .Our case might be under administrative processing or smth else .For those who don’t know ,Administrative Processing is a very mysterious thing .No one knows what is it that the embassy is checking and it can take from two weeks to 5 years !.According to our lawyers (we have 4 of them now -another sad story ),the embassy had no right to put a case under AP without an interview. From what I ve read,US embassy in Russia is notorious for putting ppl under AP without an interview. So,my fiancé contacted his congressmen .Two congressmen reached back to him ,saying they would help .They did confirm that what embassy is doing is wrong  since -first -they ignored our expedition/secondly -they never informed us about what  is going on and why our case was refused or put under AP without contacting us or any of our lawyers .So we are filing two congressional inquires .we are also working on our law suit So far, it cost us 15 000 dollars and we are under enormous amount of stress .I will keep you updated about how things are going if that is useful .

So you have $100k to hand but you couldn't pay child support of $10k over the past four years? There was no way to go back to the US on a trip at all during those 4 years that you've been in Europe and arrange for payment from, say, a US account?

My husband pays child support every month like clockwork for the daughter he shares with his ex. It's his pleasure to do this because he loves his child and wants to make sure she is well taken care of. He has lived in a different country from his daughter for nearly three and a half years and he figured out how to make sure that money gets paid on time and in full.

Sort this out, for your sake and the sake of your new family, but above all for your other child's sake.

Kate.Alday reacted to darth vader in What can be done about stalled multi-year I-130s?
I have seen this argument and frankly, it is tiring. You do realize that just because it is LAW doesn't mean it is word of GOD, and ineffective laws can actually be changed? Being gay was a crime not so long ago. I can think of a million ways the law you mentioned can be made better. For one, just like interviews are waived for tourist visas on a case by case basis, so can be done for immigrant visas. If someone is 40, has been married for 10 years, has no crime record, has travelled to U.S. numerous times etc. - clearly is not a security risk and their interview can be waived rather than having them interview as well and hog up the interview queue. I will not even comment on the "COnSULar OFFiceRS Can REad ThE BoDY LangAUgE" - it has very high rate of false positives - EXTREMELY HIGH. If it weren't for the fact that U.S. immigration laws provide exceptional degree of freedom to executive branch, such a practice would be barred immediately in a domestic context, even for non-citizens, and there is tonnes of precedent for this. Another food for thought for you - why doesn't U.S. release consular notes if U.S. consular officers are so flawless - Canada for example does this. Unless it is matter of national security, why such secrecy? Consular officer thought there was huge age difference and that was a red flag? Sure let the U.S. citizen obtain consular notes, so they can mitigate/address that concern. But sdly too many people have drunk the kool-aid that government has thought everything through and can do no wrong and is only trying to protect us.
The legal immigration system, specially the family-based immigration is in dire need of reform and COVID has made the systemic problems even worse.

The same has happened for my husband. He entered on 28th of October. He got his SSN within a few weeks but the status checker still says Immigrant Visa Fee Payment Received and when I tried to request more info they said I wasn’t outside of the processing time, so I guess the 90 days doesn’t mean anything right now 🤷🏻‍♀️

My husband paid for green card before we entered the USA . Still nothing for me and my smaller daughter. But my oldest one probably will get it soon. Her status changed on “Card Was Picked Up By The United States Postal Service”. It’s very strange.  Because we paid same time for 3 of us and entered together 🤷‍♀️

When the fee was paid in October there should have been an email with a new case number. Use that case number when you contact USCIS: https://egov.uscis.gov/e-request/displayONPTForm.do;jsessionid=679B8BA25BFBA5BB6285A8C88B051F5B?sroPageType=onpt&entryPoint=init

18 Oct  Date of Entry (SFO)
25 Nov Appointment at local social security

Kate.Alday reacted to laylalex in When to give up on our K1.... Never ending wait during Covid
When my husband and I started dating, we'd known each other for over a decade and were best friends. I still needed a LOT of time to make sure I was certain that I wanted a relationship with him. He was patient, VERY patient, and never gave up on me, even when I asked for more space and less pressure. I wasn't any less in love with him, I just needed to be sure I knew what I was doing before I committed to him. His attitude was, I waited this long for you, I can wait a bit longer. Giving up completely wasn't an option for either of us unless we figured out we weren't compatible. He gave me all the space and time I needed, and for that I am grateful. We married 2 months ago and the wait was worth it -- we worked out many potential problems when we were just dating or engaged so we didn't fly into the marriage blind and hoping for the best.

OP, why is a wait like this unsurmountable for you? It's not going to be much longer until we're all out of this mess. You are only waiting for an interview -- when K1s begin reprocessing, you'll be at the head of the line. What makes May a deadline for you? Most importantly, does your fiancee know this? What would she say if you said to her what you've told us today?
