US Embassy in Moscow - Still Closed

Hello Guys,

 

I wanted to see if there are any other embassies like the Moscow embassy that has still not begun to process any IR-1/CR-1 visas, and other mission critical visa categories. We've been stuck in a holding pattern with no meaningful updates as to when they will resume routine visa services for the past 9 months.

I looked the other day on the websites of different embassies and some have the same message Moscow does about not knowing when they will resume. 

I guess it's just luck of the draw whether a certain embassy is pushing forward or not

Thank you for posting this! Hopefully we can keep it going and everyone can respond when interviews finally start being scheduled

U.S. Embassy in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia has been closed like this as well. I just read that people that were DQd with the NVC in December 2019 were finally given interview dates this month though!! Maybe Russia will also begin interviews this month? Good luck!

UStraveldocs website and Embassy website says that basically everything is still stalled with no indication of when they will resume:

Yes I do all the time. They haven't updated it for months. Just wanted to see if anyone else may have been contacted or found out information themselves

Ah, got it. Unfortunately it seems we don't have too many active Russia VJ members with cases pending, seems like many of them just come here, check to see if anyone else has news and then they don't really post otherwise. Have you tried emailing or calling the Moscow Embassy to see if they even respond?

Right, it's true. No I haven't because I'm still in the process of getting NOA2, I'm just worried I'm gonna be stuck in limbo if and when it gets approved

I'm starting my K-1 this month.  Still working on putting together an RFE-proof (if there is such a thing) application.  My fiancée is in Vladikavkaz.  I'll be happy if she can be here by fall of 2021.  Am I being naïve?   I'm hoping by the time my application is ready to go to the consulate, that things will have started opening up and working again.....

Do you mean your I-129F application? Those are taking about 7.5-9.5 months to be approved and after that you still have to interview IF the embassy is open. So I would say you'll be lucky if she gets the visa before next year

Make sure to fill in your timeline once you apply so we can get better data here on our users on the VJ side. And yes, "front loading" your application is a great idea, it will at least make the Embassy part easier and could help result in an easier interview.

 

Since you are in for a long wait, consider meeting up in a 3rd country to make things more tolerable. Another VJ member did this @Strawberrymermaid and she had a good time. So far it looks like everyone applying to the Moscow Embassy is in for a looonggg wait with no clear end in sight. 😕
