Happened to me also. One week before my original scheduled interview I received a cancellation. The very next day I received a new interview date for a month post the original date.

Lots of reasons for a cancellation but I wouldn’t worry about it.

This happened to me. My interview was actually cancelled few hours before the interview. Reason was that my file was not with them. I got another interview after a little bit over a month. They will definitely send a mail to you when you will be rescheduled. Don’t think too much about it.

You can amend your taxes as far as 3 years back. Get a different CPA and they can help you for sure.  Good luck.

He can amend his taxes for the past 3 years.  He should amend to Married filing jointly for each year he was married.  He can include your SSN even though you just received it. ......

It is not illegal, nor is it visa fraud, to travel on a tourist visa and marry (in the US).  It is fraud to marry and stay to adjust status.

I do not recommend K1.  The OP stated they are a low income family, and I assume they would like to be able to work as soon as possible after immigration.  With a CR1, OP's husband can work right away.

Ask the US embassy in the country you're looking at. They decide if they're taking your case or not. Maybe you get lucky.

We have been apart since October 2019 and online chatting and messaging is one option, so it really helps. We both work and keep busy. I think it's a good advice to keep yourself busy, time passes quickly when you are busy with something. Don't focuse on how long you have been waiting focus on how little it's left to wait and how happy you will be in the end after reunion!🌺💖

    You can:
    1.  Read, read, read about the NVC requirements.
    2.  Start gathering needed tax documents, and proof of CURRENT annual income.  (study I-864 instructions)
    3.  Be prepared to obtain required police certificates.
    4.  Obtain required court records, divorce decrees, etc.
I'm sure others can also add to this list.

THANKS!  I thought a day or 2 prior was the norm.  I'm returning to UA the 20th so I suppose we could schedule it for the 21st.

Must discuss it with her first, but it would reduce the number of nights spent in a hotel.

Just my opinion.  Be honest.  Prove you are honest, your relationship is honest and all this will go a long way.  If they were concerned about this, it would be on the record and you would be treated as such.  Have you had any issues with government ID's because of this?  If you had any issues since the records were expunged, then you would have every reason to be concerned.

How does she feel about this? It might be great for you to receive a package deal of wife + child, but it would mean she would go through the pregnancy without you being around to support her. Getting ready to emigrate can be stressful enough already.

    Mark,
My sincerest sympathies and deepest condolences. Despite your grief, you are still thinking of others which is incredible. Just by posting here because you want to see the USCIS spend time on other applications says a LOT about who you are as a person. Grief is unbelievably painful, so please focus on taking care of yourself.

@payxibka  Thank you for the advice, but USCIS has put in a lot a lot of time processing our application and it only feels fair to notify them that we cannot follow through.  I don't want to use more of their time when others are waiting to get their applications processed.  Though it is exceptionally painful for me to ask them to close our application.

To those who have offered condolences -- that means a lot to me -- thank you for your kindness.  Pretty tough when the love of your life makes it to the U.S. only to have her slip through your fingers.  What a world.  Sorry.  Just very depressed.

Myroslava reacted to Mark11 in My Wife (Brazilian immigrant) died from Covid during AOS -- how do I withdraw the application?
    Dear Group,
I write with a very heavy heart.  My beloved wife came to the US on a K-1 visa in June 2020.  We married immediately and filed the whole I-485 packet including all the supporting forms and received the NOAs for all.  While waiting for the AOS interview, she died from covid and that has pretty much destroyed my life.  I called the USCIS hotline for advice on how best to withdraw the application, but they seemed very befuddled and recommended that I file form I-140 (which has nothing do with withdrawing a petition -- completely wrong) with the center that is handling my case.  They gave me an address based on my zip code, but I'm questioning if that's correct based on their recommendation of an incorrect form.

I just got notice yesterday that the AOS interview has been scheduled and a notice has been sent out.  Should I wait for this notice and then send a letter with a copy of the notice and death certificate to the address on the notice.  That seems to make the most sense.  Thank you for any advice.  Normally I would be able to figure this stuff out on my own (we got this far . . .), but my brain is very muddled these days.  My apologies.

    Thank you,
    Mark

We chose the CR-1 for various reasons. The biggest reason you will see people going for the K-1 is because they can't bear the thought of being married and not living together. But for us, apart was apart, married or otherwise. Once we had made the decision that we wanted to be together for the rest of our lives the fact that we were living apart until the visa approval did not change upon marriage. It was no worse living apart after the marriage than before. I really can't see, personally, how that can be an issue. Our main reason for the CR-1 was legal residency from day 1. I couldn't bear the thought of being 'in limbo' for months whilst USCIS decides whether to let me stay or not. Being able to work from day 1 was also a deciding factor. I didn't spend 7 years at university doing 2 degrees and 17 years climbing the corporate ladder to sit at home for months and let the industry move on without me. In my work, the longer you are out, the harder it is to get back in. I was a very independent person in the UK, owned a house, had a career, drove, travelled a lot both for work and pleasure, was not dependent on anyone for money. And I wanted to continue that when I moved here. I really didn't want to have to 'ask' my husband for money to get my hair cut or go out with friends whilst I was waiting for my EAD. I would have found the K-1 somewhat suffocating in being totally dependent on someone else. In some states you cannot even get a drivers license without an EAD. Fortunately that's not the case in my state but if it were, or if we had had to relocate to one where that is the case, I think I would have gone crazy.

I would suggest you to do both, bring the new documents to your interview and upload them to CEAC. I had my interview today and 2 days ago the embassy sent me an email to upload another police certificate that has all my previous last names. I did upload to CEAC all financial documents too.

NVC was the only part of the process I found somewhat tolerable. Everything was done via electronic uploads or email, I could usually get a hold of a competent friendly rep within an hour of calling, they actually answered emails...

As another poster said, they don't deal with approvals or denials. Once a case is complete and ready to be interviewed, it's out of their hands.

You can always reach out to the relevant embassy and ask for a timeline or ask them what cases are being processed. Also, chances are that if X visas were issued at a post, very close to X were interviewed since AFAIK most visa are issued fairly quickly.

Here you can find data for December 2020. Several CR-1/IR1 were issued then. That means they didn't halt the process completely. I am having my interview in 2 weeks.

Yes, I agree, passport control is not very strict here in Ukraine. But you should make some preparations. All travelers should have insurance that covers covid-19 and you need to do testing upon arrival ( there is a laboratory at Boryspil airport)
