Kahlen reacted to Duke & Marie in reporting marriage
I’d buy the tickets in the same name shown of your passport (for travel) and green card (re-entry) assuming they’re the same, if they’re not the same, you might want to consider amending this at some point just to make life easier.

with ref to notifying your country of birth about your being married, the majority of countries automatically recognise marriages carried out in other countries without a requirement to notify them (provided the marriage was entered into lawfully), but you might want to double check with that countries consulate/laws...

I live on the US-Canada border and have travelled back to my home country (Canada) many times on AP with no issue. Can’t tell you what kinds of delays there are now with covid, but unless you commit a crime during your travels you will not have an issue reentering using AP.

You have the same chances of being let in with a greencard as you do with an AP. The whole point of AP is ability to travel. Too many people freak out about this and I don’t understand. Are you planning on traveling to Syria? If so then expect scrunity regardless if you had AP or a greencard.

If you have a valid Advance Parole document when returning, you are very likely to have no issues.  After all, that is the purpose of an advance parole document.

You owe him NOTHING -- no sympathy, no compassion, no assistance and no help with getting his situation cleaned up. He did it to himself and you have no role in making it all better. Yes, it is a sad situation, but it is a sad situation for those babies, who didn't ask to be brought into this mess.

Take it from someone who thought it was her life's work to make it better all the time for a man who took me for granted and treated me like trash -- cut the cord and go out and have the fantastic life you completely deserve. I'm rooting for you! ❤️

If you had « cultural differences «  with your ex from Vietnam, how do you expect to avoid the same problem with your current girlfriend from Vietnam?
Answering your question, I personally don’t see any obstacles to K-1 except maybe the sponsor’s  income requirement. You are aware of your USCIS financial obligations to your ex, aren’t you?

You want to have a future with her but not as mother of your children. Then as what, concubine?
If you care about her enough to sponsor her studies and/or world travels, look into student or tourist visa for her.

I’m sorry for your father - my brother-in-law was killed by a drunk driver, leaving a 4-year-old child without a father. So you have your excuse for DUI, I have my excuse for my thoughts on the matter. You have other tickets too, one involving an open container. I stand by my comment that you should seek help., not just for alcohol but your thought process that laws don’t apply to you.

I think to be fair and looking at it from the immigrant perspective... I have no clue about the US tax system or insurances etc.. and expanding social circles is really hard particularly when not working..

Having lived in the UK I can tell you now, social circles pretty much revolve around those people you grew up with, family and those you meet in bars or at work.. your husband since moving to the US has lost pretty much all of those options that he’s used to so unless you want to encourage him to go to bars, it’s probably not going to happen anytime soon unless you get him going to work or the gym or something..

men generally are untidy lol, let’s face its maybe 5% of them if we’re lucky clean to our standards.. work with him on that maybe. And to be honest English food is terrible by US standards unless it’s a hot cooked breakfast then yes count me in.

I’m very sorry to hear about your home, but there’s no reason why he can’t help look for another.. give him the price range, the apps and the areas your interested in and put him to work.

getting him out of the house can be tricky, everything here is so different and really quite intimidating to be honest, your grocery stores, drive through banks, car washes, clothing sizes and so much more, not to mention all the tv we’ve watched growing up depicting the US as violent. so it’s a little scary.. I still have no idea about how to do heaps of things I used to do back home and as a highly independent woman it’s extremely frustrating, so god only knows how it would be for a mummies boy... all I know is that 80% of the time I feel useless and I’m forever leaning on my hubby for help.. although I did work out the car wash last week and am very proud of myself 😂

in no way am I saying your feelings aren’t genuine or uncalled for, I’m just trying to help you see it from might be his perspective... on the other hand he could just be lazy and need a kick up the ### to get him motivated.

Guys, please, STOP PANICKING!!!! We are already PERMANENT RESIDENTS. Just an immigration court can take away our residence from us ( but is should be a reason like a big crime, etc). This President order has nothing to do with us!!! To be honest I think it will speed up current processing times, especially for 751 forms, as uscis won’t be flooded with new applications...

We used them Initially, can’t say it cost $3k though more like $1100 but included all processing fees and priority service.. can’t say any of my interactions with them were rude, it was all done via online chat promptly..

as far as service went, we signed up to them before I came across this site.. so their doing the i130 was good for us in ensuring more than enough evidence was gathered prior to submitting... they also prefil docs needed for later in the process (NVC) which has made it less daunting I guess.

looking back now, we could have done it ourselves and have moved on through NVC stage without them. Just wish I had of found this site first, in which case I doubt I would have used them at all..

save me your money, join the right group forum and shout our any concerns, lots of help available here... you don’t need rapid visa

She can try, but she should hope for the best (approved expedite) yet prepare for the worse (denial). Unfortunately, like so many others who realize too late, this is the caveat of the K1 visa. Many don't realize just how much it sucks to no be able to work, travel back home, or even obtain a driver's license for months after coming on a K1.
