Rich817! reacted to Going through in Beneficiary's family do not support the engagement/marriage
One good thing is that you're from the UK, where parental approval is not any sort of significant expectation (as in some MENA countries).
Marrying in a courthouse is not a cause for concern either.
Likely the CO will just ask if you've met his family/he's met your family. You don't have to volunteer any information about your family's views about your fiancee, but if asked be truthful.

Rich817! reacted to Hank_ in Manila, Philippines Interview
Once NVC completes the Affidavit of Support process and all is good with everything else NVC will contact the embassy for an interview date. Just have to be patient .. soon you will get the notice from NVC for your interview.
You can reschedule once your case file is at USEM
Earlier Appointment Scheduling If you case file is already at USEM, you could schedule an earlier interview appointment.
"Immigrant Visa applicants who already have an interview appointment scheduled by the National Visa Center (NVC) should refrain from scheduling an earlier appointment through the Visa Information and Appointment Service Center without first checking to make sure Embassy Manila has the physical case file.
While we are happy to accommodate earlier appointments, we are only able to do so when we have already received the physical case file from the NVC. When the physical case file is either still with the NVC or in transit to Embassy Manila, we are unable to grant earlier appointment dates. This is because we need the physical case file to conduct an effective visa interview." Scheduling the Interview:
By Calling (632) 548-8223, (632) 792-8988.
This service is open Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., except on Philippine and U.S. holidays. Callers may speak with an English-, Tagalog-, Ilocano-, or Cebuano-speaking operator.
Applicants, agents or petitioners calling from the United States may also use this service by calling (703) 520-2235.
Once you have your NVC appt letter you can complete your medical.

Missing divorce decree.... Sent in and was approved 3 weeks later.

Rich817! reacted to Villanelle in Criminal history
Im not sure why this turned into a 2 page thread (?)
Bottom line is you do NOT need to include any criminal records with your 130, nor is there even a spot on the 130 to list them. Somewhere in the instructions or on the form it states a general disclaimer that USCIS will run a background check on both the petitioner and beneficiary that includes criminal, employment, address etc etc.
IF you come up in the criminal background check with convictions they want more info on they will send you an RFE, they may even send you (the petitioner) for biometrics.
You may need to show the records if you get an RFE (which has an 87 day timeframe to respond). You may not ever need to show them. Do you think youd be able to get the records in 87 days if asked?
Either the attnys you spoke to intend on filing the K3 also (which is a waste of money) or they want to have all the documents in case of an RFE.
Honestly you dont need an attny for the CR visa because of the criminal issues you mentioned. You should be able to file the guides posted on VJ and save the money the attny would be paid.

Rich817! got a reaction from Apple Bee in Notice of intent to deny
Ok friends received my NOID today in the mail, I'm very surprised but all what apparently was missing was my divorce decree. So I mailed the original with the seal stamped so they know it's the real deal. Now just have to wait for a response. Hopefully not to long. Something simple I thought would of been a RFE but I guess it's changing. Will keep you all posted on time frame to get a response back from them...

Rich817! reacted to mushroomspore in Immigration doesn't like if you met online?
Not sure where your fiancee heard that but the truth is, they don't really care. People meet online all the time. I'm "meeting" you right now online. But that's not indicative of a relationship. Extensive time talking online and then eventually meeting face-to-face and progressing to regular visits...those are the real indicators of a relationship and that's what immigration cares about. Besides, immigration is run by people too. They know the Internet's taken over and has changed things. Even just 15 years ago, people raised their eyebrows at relationships that started online. But now?? Please point to someone who hasn't gone on OKCupid, Tinder, etc. There is nobody. We've all at least tried it.

The IRS will catch on to him, if he owes taxes (if he doesnt, they wont care, if he does, they will get the $ eventually). They probably wouldnt pay much mind to a mad ex foreign fiance, anyways. Don't be trite.
The charges you found may or may not be what his actual convictions were. Was he honest, no, it seems not, but online searches rarely tell the whole story. 7 years ago or 20, both are long in the past. Well before he met you. People make mistakes. What is important is that he learned from them, and grew from them. That is the measure of a good person. He was probably embarrassed and ashamed. I was when I told my fiance about my record, and it was nothing like that, and not indicative of the type of person I am or what I was going through at the time.
To me, the biggest issue is that you felt the need to go behind his back and snoop on him. That is a huge indicator of trust, or lack thereof.
Could the charges have resulted in a K1 denial. Maybe but probably not. Should he have been honest, absolutely.
If you dont want to marry him, please do not. But dont write off everything when you dont know the whole story. And stop snooping. if you want to know something, ASK. obviously something happened that made you feel the need to snoop.

177 days and sent to Department of State. Hang in there my fellow VisaJourney friends! Your approval will come eventually and it will be unexpected, but I promise it will be sweet when it does! Ah man, the relief... Onto the NVC stage.

Rich817! reacted to debbiedoo in I have no income & no assets, will that affect my wife's chance to get a U.S. visa even if she has a joint sponsor?
The answer to your question is no it will not. although you still should have FILED taxes even if you OWED nothing.
The bigger issue with myself, and many (I'm sure) is that you seem to be expecting your wife to support you (and coming on a CR1 she will be able to work immediately).
I have social anxiety. I still manage to work. I've supported myself and my children my entire life. I've simply managed to find a career where I dont have to deal with people in person. And even when i HAVE had jobs where i had to 'people' every day ... i sucked it up cause thats what ya got to do sometimes. I had one lousy husband refuse to work and that was enough for me. Trust me, even if she says she doesnt mind, over time, resentment will build, especially if your anxiety is selective and you can go and do the things you WANT to go and do. I dont WANT to work at all but I rather like being self sufficient and not relying on anyone to 'take care of me'. So... work it is.
It's not fair to your wife to put that burden on her (what kind of work experience/education does she have? How will that transfer over here?) or to the co sponsor. Why dont you find a job NOW instead of waiting? what are you waiting FOR?
Personally I think co sponsors should be allowed in only a few cases and not as a 'this is the only way we can ever do this cause i can never work or make enough money' type thing. but thats me. I would never co sponsor someone in that type of scenario.
ill step off my pedestal now. I think i need a snickers bar.
