I understand how you feel. It is our culture as Filipinos. Although I dont send monthly money to my family in Philippines, I personally feel I want to have my own money. I too am paying for the home mortgage even though my name isn't in there. I devise an arrangement for us. We have 3 accounts all joint accounts.
1st account is our joint checking account - this is where our salary goes to. This will hold all expenses. Mortgage, Car Loans, Bills, Groceries, Shopping, Splurge, Fancy Dining, etc 2nd account is joint savings account#1- although it is still joint account, this is where i place 50% of my husband's salary. literally 50% of what he earns. that way he can splurge on whatever he wants. he can blow this one in the casino if he chose to.  3rd account is another joint savings account. - this is where i place 50% of what i earn. my husband has full access on this one. he can empty it out if he chose to. i use this account to treat him or buy him gifts so that he wont feel he is paying for his own gift. i also use this account should i choose to give/send money to philippines.  I adjust the savings portion depending on our monthly expense. if we go out of town, i save less in a month. but, regardless, it's the same percentage on both accounts.

it's joint but somewhat segregated because my husband and i have different financial views. i'm the saver and investor while my husband is neutral about money.  Also, I had been financially independent in terms of money long before we got married and he respects this.

i had also discussed this topic before marriage. i told my husband that whenever we get married, not a penny would be taken out from his pocket to be sent to Philippines. though I don't send every month but sometimes i give my parents gifts here and there. and i dont want my husband to feel bad or to feel robbed in anyway possible. gladly, it's working for us.

I just checked as an add-on to my previous post. Uber is available in your area, and Dulles international airport is only at most 30 miles from where you are. I have already saved the airport in my Uber account, so when your ready, pm me an address and time and I'll schedule a pick-up. I hate to see someone suffer after giving up so much to come here.

So you were married and lied that you were not. That adds another layer of complication.

Begs the question why you decided to go the fraudulent K1 route.

I do find it curious that in OP’s list of questions, how to stay in the US and avoid deportation (especially while en-route to plan B in Texas) seem to be more important than getting out of an abusive relationship.
After 6 months with absolutely nothing in the US, it would also seem to me that returning home to “start from scratch” would be a better option than doing it here.
I would be interested to hear husband’s side of the story, but alas on VJ (with I think one exception that I can recall) we only ever get to hear one side of the story. ( A wife and other family members often work in the family business/store in certain communities.. possibly just business as usual for them, I know a few stores like this locally. I always just assumed they all get taken care of by the family rather than each necessarily receiving a wage.)

also having a friend ready to stump up a few thousand... doesn’t sound so new and clueless as is being made out, in such an organized list of questions.

    sorry for being so cynical.

Holy #######. I just woke up past midnight and figured why not...I’ll do my hourly check. Nothing on the EAD or the AP as usual. Check the 485 and the interview was scheduled! Wasn’t expecting that for another 6 months at least! In total shock! I guess no EAD!?! And that means he cannot take the job offer he has as this will still take a few months to be completed, right? But at least there is SOMETHING!!! After almost 200 days at least it’s moving!

I just got ahold of a super nice agent and she said the exact the same thing. She said they’re trying to stay within the 2.5-5 months. Hopefully, we will hear some good news very soon coz seeing some applicants who filed later than me and got their EADs already makes me salty 😂 like why? 😂😂😂 my husband is very supportive tho. He constantly reminds me to chill coz i’ll be looking forward for days off once I start working😆

Just back from the info pass appointment. We were the only ones there. Everyone was super nice. She gave him a one time AP good until October. She said if his combo card comes before he needs to leave to use that instead. What an absolute incredible relief. It hasn’t sunk in yet that he will not have to make the choice between seeing his father and staying here. Holy ####### I can’t believe that is done. And probably the card will come in the next few weeks anyway but at least his whole family can breathe a sigh of relief!!! This has been SOOOO a stressful. BTW they told me that are really pressured to stay within the printed processing times so I really do think us March people will all have good news in the next two weeks!

What makes Nigeria hard is that young men are known to search the internet to find a path to the US.  Even more so now that Nigeria is no longer eligible for the DV lottery.   Most of these men prey on lonely older woman, making them feel special and promising them everything they aren't getting here where youth is such a concern. Many of them barely make it to the US before take off.  The CO will tend to assume you are one of these men no matter how true your intentions.  Think long and hard on how you can convince someone that you aren't one of these men.  It is always harder to prove you are not something rather the other way around.

You MUST file the I-485 prior to the expiration of your I-94 to avoid being out of status and subject to deportation.  If you have not been issued a SS card, I wouldn't list the "number"......There is no requirement to have a Social Security card prior to filing the I-485, I-131, and I-765.
"was an unfriendly brunette white woman "
I don't see the race and hair color of the SS supervisor being relevant to the situation.

So I just had the weirdest dream last night.
Donalt Trump was at our apartment and I was sitting and talking to him at the living room. He said that I don't have to be anxious and just be patient, because my green card interview is coming soon. He also said he want's to lower the taxes and raise the salary. Then he left because he had a meeting. I was running after him but suddenly I was in a big something like a governmet building hallway, and a lot of people was around Trump. He saw me and waved his hand and yelled that "be patient, your inteview is coming". Then I woke up.
Thank you Mr. President, I hope you'r right 😂

    I’m female.

If a $1250 fee is burdensome to you, but you make “decent money” (decent to me is “more than you need to survive each month”) then something is not right.

Ultimately it’s your choice whether to keep your wife here at risk of deportation. Only you know where that fits in your priorities right now.

I get that a 10-month stay in a Manila hotel was expensive but that was your choice. You (as the USC) did not have to stay. You could have returned home and worked to save for this additional expense. You surely were aware that this fee was required at this stage when you started out on this journey? But that’s water under the bridge now and cannot be undone.

The current political climate here is not favorable to people who are out of status. But...your life, your choices.
