I had a similar issue to yours. I was approved 1 year and a few weeks after my interview.
In my case I believed they looked at my file because we moved and submitted multiple service requests online and on the phone.
I would say contact your Congressman and Senator, the Ombudsman and file service requests.
After that well just wait and pray. 🤷🏾‍♀️
You really never know how to work with USCIS so try everything and hope for the best.
    Good luck

    Hello

Congratulations! This is an awesome picture.
    Forms:
    I-130
    I-130A
    I-485
    I-864
    I-765
    I-131
Make sure to read the instructions for each very carefully.
    First 4 forms are mandatory.
The last 2 are optional and highly recommended but free and when filed out with the others, and will also help you because they are respectively work permit and travel permit.

Good luck and Happy married life!

As someone said, you can no longer schedule InfoPass appointments online. You have to call them, plead your case as to why you need an appointment and ask them to schedule one. Even with that though, I'm sorry to say though that there would be no way for you to get your EAD by Monday. Just having the card delivered to you takes about a week from when the case is approved. And I'm not sure that scheduling an appointment would necessarily help you get your case approved.

If I were you, I would try to get another job offer that can wait at least a couple of weeks and try to expedite on that basis. Good luck!!

Did you for Advance Parole/ I-131? If not please do and its free, just attach a copy of your I-485 receipt  to your application with 2 pictures, etc ( read the instructions) to show that it is still pending. You do not need to have specific travel plans to apply for it. With the AP and the EAD card you can work and travel out of the country without abandonning your application and be good.
Like mentioned by somebody else before, with the NOA1 you are in authorized stay until a decision is made on your application.
Im not sure what the CBP officer meant 🤷🏾‍♀️

I understand sudden unexpected financial issues do pop up. But at the same time, there really needs to be a fund set aside and dedicated to AOS related costs before the individual even arrives in the US, and plans for an sponsor in the worst of cases. This is just looking out for your loved ones. I'm in no way suggesting somebody who doesn't do this loves their SOs any less, but it is a dangerous lack of planning.
And obviously there are exceptions (i.e. sudden medical issue negating functional income, and no friends/family members able or willing to sponsor).
It's just that far too often people fully plan for AOS only after arriving in the US. The K-1 is only step 1...you gotta plan for steps 2, 3, and 4 alongside step 1.

Whether the passport was truly voluntarily surrendered or if it was coerced is not really relevant now. They have it. First step is to request it back. Only if they refuse to do so does it really make sense to raise the issue to the local consulate/embassy and immigrant support groups, or trying to compel them to do so due to coercion, IMO. Getting it back is the goal...stay focused on that.
Next would be addressing the need to check in monthly. My guess is also that they are on standby in case AOS is denied. There is nothing prohibiting them from requesting somebody show up. I am not confident they have a valid reason to compel compliance with that request, though. That's where I think professional assistance or at least an immigrant rights group can really assist with sooner rather than later. If they do not provide a valid reason for requiring the check in, they aren't likely to even try to pursue it when there is some form of legal backing behind you.

Depends on the AOS category and especially where you live.
While all EAD/AP are all processed at NBC for c9 AOS.
Interviews and the evaluation of your file are done at your local office. You can find your local office by putting your zip code on this site:

I posted it on anbother topic in more detail, but here you go:

    - 2/12: Our PD for I-485 and I-765.
    - 5/29: Request expedite over the phone (job offer beginning August 5th).
    - 6/10: No follow up for 11 days. I call again, agent says there was some kind of error.
    - 6/14: I get an email around noon asking me to fax evidence. I couldn't get back to them during their office hours (I wasn't home, this was a friday), so I decide to send everything over on Monday.
    -  6/17: I send them everything by 8:15 AM. No follow up. We were on a trip to MN where we are moving soon.
    - 6/23: Get back home to discover an approval notice in the mail. No status change online. I797A is dated starting 6/17/19.
    - 6/24: Card in the mailbox!

No updates at all through the online system, where it just says "we have received your case".

Figured I better throw this into the mix. Make sure you get your social security card within your first week here. Go apply for it the day you land if you have time. But the sooner the better. Get it in your current name and change it after you get married, but you want the SS card as soon as possible. Makes things easier for you with banks, insurance, state ID, etc.

They could switch to an interview booking system that provides paired options of time-to-interview and travel distance, and let applicants choose. The further the travel distance you choose, the sooner the interview date. Let the market decide.

Here are the forms to fill out
    I-130 ($535 fee) &I-130A
     I-485 ($1,140+ $85 biometric fee)
    I-864
I-765  optional but I highly recommend to send, once approved you can change jobs I believe (free, no fee when sent with all the previous)
I-131 optional but again better be safe then sorry (free also when sent with others )
Also there is form G28 I think (please double check ) to receive electronic confirmation that your file has been accepted. Optional too, but can reassure that your file has been accepted

Sent them all with the necessary documents together !!

Please take the time to read the instructions of each form.

Im not too familiar with  H1B and if you can travel until you receive your I-131/travel so please search on the forum using the search button or just ask, others that have a similar situation can help.

Once you receive your  NOA which are the receipts that your forms have been accepted please sign up for Informed Delivery from USPS (gives you a picture each day of incoming mail) and USCIS online account if you dont have 1 already

You already have a H1B so I can assume you knoe how immigration works and that process is long and tedious. Takes between 12-24 months depending on where you live and your local field office.

    Good luck on your journey

That depends on Las Vegas.  Could be a few weeks, could be 18 months. It's just like waiting for the K1 NOA2.... if you expect it to take forever then you won't be disappointed when it happens sooner.

Nouchigang got a reaction from Matrix13 in Proving “authorized stay” to rent an apartment
Just addin to what other people said: From reading other K1s experience, I would apply for her SSN within a week of her arrival and BEFORE you send the AOS package, because if you wait too long it will be too close to the I-94 expiration date. You can use the search option on VJ to give you more details on the process of getting her a Social.
Having her SSN, copy her visa + I-94 should suffice in my opinion for a beginning and then afterwards the NOA can be added.
Listing her as an occupant should be easier  but Some apartment complexes are really picky, I think they want something in case something goes "wrong" during the lease but in your situation it is quite complicated.  I feel you, we had that issue when I first moved here.

Hopefully they accept what we suggested.
    Good luck

    Hello,

From personal my experience and what I read on VJ for the Baltimore office, if they did not approve you on the spot, yes it is normal not to hear anything for while at this office, you should expect an answer or follow up after 3-4 months. And you dont hear anything back please call to schedule an Infopass to make an inquiry.
I havent seen a lot of activity from this thread or other Baltimore threads for a while now, I think most people just dont come back after getting approved or we are not a big number here on VJ.
In the mean time,  If you havent done so, please make sure to create an account with USPS informed delivery, it is free and you can do it online, make sure to create accounts on both: https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/displaySignUpStep1.do and https://myaccount.uscis.dhs.gov/
If you move please make sure to file an AR-11 online asap and also please fill one AR-11 for each receipt numbers.
Also please keep up with updated  USCIS policy because some employees are not aware of them.

Let me explain why I am saying that: In my case, it has been almost a year now since my interview (adjusting from B2, interview was June 26 2018) and I havent had an answer yet. They sent me a RFE at the end of April 2019, probably triggered by us moving and filing the change of address. After getting lost for a while I finally received the letter 1 month and a half letter and they requested a new I-693 but the one I gave last year is still valid because they changed the validity for medical exams to 2 years in October 2018.
When I called to speak to an IO and tell them I do not understand why they are requesting a new medical exam from me because I already provided one in hand in hand to the immigration officer last year and it is still valid because the validity has changed and, it is now 2 years. The officer was surprised and even started to argue with me, I told him to double check, When he did verify, he realized his mistake and he even told me "well I learn something thanks to you". Can you imagine how many people got wrong information from him?!
Anyways all this to say, please stay on top of it, call every month if needed, to check on the status, and if you dont get approved after the 4 months please go talk to somebody at the field office
    Good luck

Unemployment is more of an insurance type program - something you pay into for the purpose of being able to use it, if needed.
