The wait is brutal especially since you already gave them what they requested it makes no sense the lack of communication.

Here’s hoping you’re not waiting too much longer now!

Nothing since we uploaded our documents on April 18th. Our congressperson said they would put it on their calendar to make an inquiry for us every 30 days until approval. 30 days is coming up this week, so hopefully the inquiry will push things along.

The sentence to pay attention to in the US Dept. of State's notice is: "If you were informed by the consular officer that your case was refused for administrative processing, your case will remain refused while undergoing such processing." So nothing really changed as I assume we/our family members were already told this at the end of the original embassy interview.

Yep, we did receive online acknowledgement, so hopefully it won't be too much longer until green card approval.

Thanks for the tip - I am going to try sending our documents via registered mail, too, if we don't see any action within the next few weeks.

Good luck to you on your continued immigration journey!

October ‘21 AOS filer here - we just had our interview this past week in the Minneapolis field office and received an RFE from the officer at the end as he wanted to see more bills and such from us. We brought several items with us - credit card, bank, utility bills, taxes, lease, etc. but all from the current year. He mentioned he prefers to see this kind of evidence not from just the current year, but from each year of marriage. The check list in our appointment letter didn’t mention this specifically, but I still feel like an idiot for not assuming they’d want to see more from previous years. We scrounged around and thankfully were able to upload more of what they were looking for. Here’s to hoping we haven’t just set ourselves back several more months after waiting 19 months for the interview.

Today, it's "Oh, look, there's this thingy over here, please look where my finger points!" in a lame attempt to remove focus from the Biden debacle.  The smoke screen isn't nearly as effective as intended.

My fiance is Iranian as well, but now a citizen of Norway.  We've been waiting in AP for 1.5 years and our case just updated today to "Refused" as well.

From what I have read so far online from others, is that this was either a glitch in the computer system, or just a change in the way they note that you are in AP (for example, your case was refused at the interview, but still under AP, and not closed or rejected, hence, the Refused status.)

This seems to have happened to a big chunk of applicants today, so I am not going to worry about it, but just to be safe, I have sent an email to our embassy to double check.

The same happened to our case today too, as well as the bulk of others waiting in AP, apparently. According to a post I just read from an immigration lawyer on Facebook, it is a new way of stating that cases under AP are considered refused until AP is over, hence the "Refused" status. I emailed my embassy just now to double check though.

I actually suggested the same idea in the sight suggestions thread, but didn't get much of a response.

It sure would be a helpful feature for those of us who are stuck in extended AP to have in order to get a sense of how similar cases are progressing and moving.

Good luck on your case and I hope you see a resolution to your wait soon.

I-129F. I have just read that having it as preliminary evidence can help out. I don't know what kind of embassy B&H is; but I know it is a very poor country so i'm assuming it's a "high risk" embassy. I don't know for sure though. I'm trying to front load in as much as I can cause I heard that it helps the process when they have the evidence at the get-go.

The bit about a translation certification refers to official documents you may include, not really the address in the native alphabet.

In my K1, we just wrote in the address in my fiance's native alphabet where it asked - no trouble from USCIS.

I’m happy to say my wife received her visa today! We interviewed in Ankara last month, refused under the PP. contacted 2 weeks later to submit the passport only and now visa in hand!  Here’s to hope for anyone not interviewing yet and praying for those who were unfairly put in AP hell that it will end soon. God bless you all in this wonderful group.

    Thank you!!
I was told during my interview that I am exempted from the Travel ban because of my Canadian citizenship, but apparently I wasn't that much exempted. I guess the only thing that I can do at this moment is to provide the information they asked (which I did ) and wait. Hopefully they check my info and come to a conclusion soon!

It’s a frustrating situation, that’s for sure. My fiancé has a similar situation to yours. He’s Iranian-Norwegian, has been to the US successfully many times in the past as a visitor, and is Christian.

We’ve been in extended AP for quite some time.

I wish you you luck on the journey and hopefully an issued visa soon.

Dual citizens are not banned, even if your birth place is currently on the banned list.  If your family member has a Canadian passport, they will use that to apply.

The dual citizen should probably expect a long time in administrative processing, though.

I'm not certain, but I believe only certain "officials" and their families from Venezuela are currently banned, and not regular citizens.

You can search on here and find the message board for Venezuela and gather more information there.

You may also want to consider getting married and filing a spousal visa vs. the fiance visa as there are a few more benefits to that, especially if you are worried about encountering any issues due to where your fiance is from.

    Good luck!
