jamrep reacted to Caresse33 in Unable to check in for my flight using app due to missing document-UK
Thank you for your advice but I prefer not to risk for my visa to run out and start the process again with all those fees. Personally financially I cannot afford it and nobody know how long the virus will last. So i would suggest to every member who have their visa in hand to travel as soon as possible.

I see no need to explain. If you have a valid marriage certificate, you are legally married....religious ceremony or not. You already have enough to file the AOS package. I would file the Adjustment of Status package immediately.

jamrep reacted to dwheels76 in K1 Fiance Visa - Nigeria
Okay for all filing going through Nigeria K1 and spousal Visas have been approved with the waiver and folks daily have been getting their Visa. It's honestly been business as usual (well until they closed the embassy).
There still those put in AP for various reasons, and those who do not qualify for a waiver approval. But many still have the public charge to overcome.
So to OP yes your petition is still valid you have some waiting to do but it will be processed and go it's merry way to embassy at some point.
If you are under IR1/CR1 same applies, I know many who have been approved since the Visa Ban and have picked up there visa in the usual 7 to 14 days.
Just pray this Virus doesn't stop everything. But for now the embassy is closed and Nigeria is shutdown. School, churches many businesses are closed.

jamrep reacted to Boiler in Well This is Embarrassing
First you need to be honest with yourself, you do not 'forget' getting divorced.
And no the Catholic Church does not do bigamy.
-
jamrep reacted to Lemonslice in Well This is Embarrassing
You would have had to file in the state where you resided. It is not that long ago, I think you would remember if you did.
If you did not divorce, then you are probably still married. Is bigamy legal in Indonesia?

jamrep reacted to Mike E in N-600 for a Minor Child Inquiry
1. No. He is a citizen, based on what you wrote.
2. won’t be faster. It isn’t a priority for an overwhelmed agency especially since you have a simple remedy to get your child proof his proof of a USA citizenship. The longer you wait to get his USA passport (and passport card; highly recommended as this is backup proof of citizenship) the more likely the state department will RFE.
strike while the iron is hot and get him his passport book/card.
3. Sure if they lose the paperwork or if you made an error.

jamrep reacted to Orangesapples in Claiming Unemployment as an Immigrant
I don't know about WA but in California employees don't even pay for it, the employer does. And then the state increases their rates when someone qualifies for unemployment.
OP, don't worry, you can get unemployment. Unemployment is only for people who are lose their jobs through no fault of their own and the employers who laid them off pay for it. You're not going to get in trouble. Go ahead and get your money.

jamrep reacted to geowrian in Claiming Unemployment as an Immigrant
No issue. Unemployment is an insurance program that you pay into. It has no public charge implication whatsoever.

jamrep reacted to Marieke H in Freaking out
He needs to talk to HR and explain the situation.
You know that there are separate case numbers for the I-485 and EAD and AP, right? Are you sure you aren't just mixing those up? His EAD could be approved, while his I-485 isn't.
Did his employer check eVerify before he started? If that check came back without issues, his EAD must have been approved. Then you just haven't received the card yet.
If you are 100% sure that his EAD has not been approved, have him ask HR for a job offer letter. Then call USCIS and request to expedite the EAD.

jamrep reacted to Cécy in N-400 Dec 2019 Filers
I realized that processing times likely depend not only on your field office, but also the agent in charge of it.
i applied at the end of October, and I’ve seen several people with the same field office getting interview, and even take the oath, before I even got my invitation to one (happening this week!!)
This process definitely takes patience.

That may be your answer right there. You should have revealed this earlier after I asked instead of giving bits and pieces of your story and leading us on a wild goose chase fact finding odyssey.
Google Controlled Application Review and Resolution Program (CARRP), things will become clearer to you. I suppose you’re a Muslim?

jamrep reacted to kasper-k in any experience with writ of mandamus for I751
why would I hide, I might not provided all details, because my question was more to WOM, but back in 2018 I applied for N400 while I751 was pending, I was called for an interview for N400, the officer was not happy with the fact that I applied for both cases at the same time, she checked my file and wasn't happy with the evidence, she interviewed me and my wife, then told us she will ask for more documents and she will send us a letter, explaining what we need to do. I never received anything from them so I made an info pass appointment and took more proofs ( same proofs the officer was asking about during the interview since I didn't take any with me that time). after a year they rescheduled my N400 interview, I went again with my wife hoping to have a joint interview and end this nightmare, unfortunately, they only ask about N400 and I passed the test but they said they have to wait for the decision of I751, this was back in June 2019. no updates since then.
Last September 2019, I went to have an info pass to extend my I515, I asked the officer about the status of my case, he said that the background check was completed and my case is in the queue waiting to be reviewed by a supervisor, however, all service requests still come up as waiting for background checks.
I'm from Algeria.
I've been married since 2015, living together filing taxes together, life and health insurance, trips, bills, no criminal records, I came here as a student and I'm still a student finishing my master's this year.

jamrep reacted to African Zealot in My Husband is divorcing me before my AOS interview what documents should I bring when exciting the US
This is exactly why the spousal visa is preferable to the fiancee visa despite the longer processing time. Had it been a spousal visa, the decision to stay permanently or return to Dubai/Philippines would be entirely yours because you could remove conditions without him.
In my opinion, the fiancee visa for the vast majority of people is inappropriate and puts them at a disadvantage because most are not coming to live together before deciding whether to proceed with marriage or not. The decision to marry has typically already been made before coming to the USA.
Good luck.

>My husband wants me to go home in the philippines asap.
The question should be whether you want to go home to the Philippines. You could file for divorce and demand immediate financial support payments.

He cannot force you to leave the US, and you can leave his home find somewhere to stay as long as your i94 has not expired... You can get all the documents from divorce yourself before you go home... And who know he might change his mind... Good luck.

Are you implying that an officer made you lie saying you had a job when you didn’t? because that is a very serious thing to allege
Or did you in fact have a job that was in violation of your student visa?

Your timeline shows that your EAD was approved. If so, why not wait a few days until you receive the card to go to the DMV? Save yourself a trip.

AGAIN! I did not say people were laughing at me at the store! and I didn't say that I don't understand english, you are making me sound like an idiot that can't tell if my husband is serious or teasing me, maybe you don't understand english! I said that I have hard time understanding people with heavy accent like Indian or Chinese.
I am very much capable of understanding english and I can also tell what is abuse and what is not.

Since you aren’t on a conditional visa, he really can’t do much about that. Though he may threaten as that’s what bullies do.
Start by looking for domestic abuse assistance in your area or hotlines. Here is a national one that may give you more options. https://www.thehotline.org/is-this-abuse/ Communicate with anyone and everyone you trust and let them know you need help. People around you may have noticed but didn’t have enough information about the situation to speak up.
