Are you going to / do you miss USCIS after naturalizing?

I guess the question is in the title of this thread.

 

Do people miss the times they're waiting for the next immigration benefit? The thrill of getting your case approved etc.

 

I got I-751 approved not too long ago, and it feels strange not to be waiting for something from USCIS.

 

I will be applying for N-400 at some point. Wondering how does it feel like after becoming a citizen?

I do not miss USCIS. Not one little bit. It was a huge relief to be done with them, it took my older two boys 2 more years after I naturalized (the younger two derived from me) and then I felt like we were free from this headache.

I, the petitioner, was outraged at how long (back then -- nothing like now) it took USCIS to approve Mrs. T-B.-to-be's I-129F petition.

 

We then got hosed beyond description at the [censored deleted emended] Guayaquil consulate.

 

After Mrs. T-B.-to-be finally got here, the AOS, ROC, and N-400 were straightforward and uneventful.  It was a relief to deal with USCIS again!

 

Knowing what I know now (and see on VJ now), I would never go through another foreign relationship unless she were already in the U.S. and needed to adjust status.

We're so happy to be free of it! We can use our bank accounts and pay our bills the way we want to now - not the way we think USCIS wants us to. We have, for various reasons, separate health insurance policies, and now, we don't having to worry about explaining it to anyone! My husband can vote, too. No, we don't miss USCIS!

Most certainly not. I feel like the USCIS affairs shaved off a few years of my life due to pure stress and long delays.

Being an LPR is a weird no man's land.  You get to pay the taxes with few benefits other than the opportunity to live - and work - in the US.  

 

Loved walking out of the USCIS Field Office for the last time.

Miss a 6 year process and 

Having my private and financial life invaded

Spending money to travel to prove a real relationship even though married

going thru K1, CR1,  appeal and new CR1 after winning appeal 

 

NO,  i miss the money i spent 

i could have remodeled my kitchen with all i spent

 

I think most apply for parents and/or siblings , so miss it,  they will go thru the process over and over -a glutton for punishment

I don't and my wife doesn't but it seems the USCIS misses us so much that regardless of how many AR-11s a previous resident of the house I bought 2 years ago sends, the USCIS keeps sending everything here. 

Knowing how much hassle it can be for returned USCIS mail, I tracked the beneficiary down and she comes to pick the stuff up.

We, too, are in the “no, we don’t miss USCIS” boat. In fact, whenever we drive remotely past our field office (we both do on a regular basis), we heave a sigh of relief. No more worries about missing one of their letters, no more frantically checking in online, no more concerns about scheduling trips abroad because they happen to fall with yet another adjustment of USCIS’s timelines. No more worries that, should my wife have an opportunity to work abroad for a few years, we would have to go back to long distance for a while, and so on and so forth. And unlike others (shout out to @TBoneTX and @JeanneAdil - I feel for you with all the money and time lost), we didn’t even have a complicated or super-long case.

Absolutely not. Why would you? The one thing you can thank yourself is the hard work you did to achieve this goal.

I understand this feeling - I was just thinking about how much of my life in the past years has been around USCIS wants and deadlines and how by this time next year (give or take) I will never ever have to think about it again.

 

It's a strange feeling! I missed my own honeymoon because of USCIS incompetence! It's gonna be a emptiness for a bit but overall I am counting the days to be free and never look back.

I'm in the boat with many others, don't miss em. But I'm still in the process of it with my Husband.

This is a lot of loaded paperwork more than other things I've dealt with like IRS, school but it's always different so that came to an exclusion, many other things that ask for paperwork.

I know my Husband is more of the type of guy who don't wanna do any of the paperwork so he don't miss it either!
