Wife's N-400 Interview is Scheduled!!!!!

I-751/N-400 Combo interview conducted this afternoon at the Dallas Field Office.  Appointment was at 1:00PM.  We were called about 1:30PM.  Officer wanted to see evidence of marriage from filing the I-751 (2019) until now.  Officer wanted to see evidence of marriage since I-751 filing.  I showed him both our driver's licenses, bank accounts, credit card accounts, Credit Cards, apartment leases (with signature page), Car Insurance.    He said, " You meet the requirements for I-751".  After the I-751 interview, he said "Now, we will start the N-400 interview".  He gave me the choice of either staying in the room or going back out to the waiting room. My wife chose to do the interview alone.    He then escorted me back out.  About 30 minutes later, the officer escorted my wife out to meet me.  She says she was asked the 6 easiest questions among the 100 possible ones.  Who is the current US President, for example.

 

I'm glad that interview is done!!!   Now, we wait for the oath ceremony!!!

I had a similar experience at a field office in the northeast on 12/12/22.

We didn’t know to request a combo interview, but my spouse and I presented together just in case. The officer told us that there were two files on her desk (I-751 and N-400), and that she would need to speak with my spouse for the first application.

 

She asked for our drivers licenses and my passport. The I-751 portion was questions directed at both of us about our history. After that, my spouse was given the option to leave, or to stay present but silent for the duration of the. N-400. Some of the questions that were asked during the I-751 were asked again. No documents were requested. The civics questions were some of the easiest on the list. I got a document saying I passed the test. We were told that the I-751 would be approved, and the N-400 would be approved the following day, as the I-751 approval is a pre-requisite for N-400 approval.  Two days later, I-751 status is approved on MyUSCIS and N-400 hasn’t updated yet, but we anticipate this changing soon. 

 

From filing to approval, I-751 took about 20 months, and N-400 about 7 months.

So happy for you. There is a possibility that your spouse and my spouse will take the oath on the same day, same location.

Our I-751 status still shows "ready to be scheduled for an interview"....LOL.  N-400 status is as shown above.  "Oath Ceremony will be scheduled".

I-751 took 44 months, and N-400 took about 4 months from filing.

I guess our case is evidence that filing the N-400 actually really can speed up the I-751 ROC process....😁

I think the same in our n400/i751 case, filing our n400 case seem to sped up our i751 case & the pending i751 seemed to sped up our n400 case by six months or so as we have a friend who filed their n400 5-year case with 10-year green card 7 months or so before we filed our n400 case and they got their naturalization two months after our case was adjudicated at the same USCIS office in Sacramento. Our more complicated n400 based on 3-year rule, pending ROC, and with the LPR is from Iran was 7 months faster to get an interview and approval than our LPR friend with a 10-year rule n400 case from Ireland at the same USCIS field office.  

 

Congratulations on your wife's approval, it has been a long time coming.

Received the official USCIS I-797 for approval of our I-751 and confirmation of N-400 approval.  Bring on that oath ceremony!!!
