Why are cases being sent to centers that are severely backlogged?

For example Nebraska and certain other centers have 7-15 months of processing time, while California has over 2.5-3.5 years!? Just found out my I-130 for spouse as USC, just got send to California...this doesn't make any sense. Wouldn't they want to distribute eventually to all service centers? Could someone explain

Your guess is as good as anyone’s. The ways of USCIS and their mystical algorithm for petition processing is not made public, so any replies here would be conjecture.   Luck of the draw maybe?   They will shuffle petitions in order to change up the workloads, but again, how that works is not public knowledge.

just because they post something online does not mean that its true. lol they are just numbers that are made up by some guy in the number crunching room

These are just the numbers I believe, as I have seen people getting through in Cali faster than the other ones. Mine had also been transferred from Potomac to Cali so lets see.

Also for consideration, certain case types are processed at certain centers.  Otherwise, it's a crapshoot!
