Lots of this is on the FAQ.  

 

Greencard can be a couple of weeks or a couple of months.  Your visa in your passport serves as your temporary green card for travel and purposes of employment. 

 

I'd probably forgo activating the visa and then coming back unless you're fully vaccinated because the quarantine rules still apply.  And, well, covid tests are so cheap and fun...NOT!

I saw this in FAQ. Does this mean you get an email notification after the interview when a passport is ready to be picked up at the Canada Post Office you selected as a pick-up location when you registered for the interview? 

 

I'm wondering if directly picking it up at the Canada Post Office is better than selecting  the "priority service" to have my passport delivered to my address. Maybe it will save a couple of days of a passport traveling from the post office to my address and also eliminate the small risk of it getting lost in transit.

If you choose to have your passport delivered by courier, it's not Canada Post.  It's by courier.  It's 6 in one hand, half a dozen in the other as to whether you feel Canada Post is reliable.

This is case by case dependent, hence no list.  I'd talk to an accountant if you're worried, bonus points if they are a cross border tax specialist.  I would NOT recommend PWC as I and many of my colleagues have had nothing but issues with their organization in the past.

Just another piece of information for those who want to keep their car and are still paying for it. I just found out that you can keep your car loan and take the car with you to the USA, the loan has to continue to come out from a Canadian account. This is from the RBC bank. To cross the border with your car you need a letter from the manufacturer saying your car conforms to all applicable FMVSS standards. If your car does not have a FMVSS sticker on. And you will need to convert it once you are in the States.

Has anyone have experience with dr. Cheema? I booked for July 26 but from the email it says report is ready in a week and will be mail to Montreal by the clinic. However, it says on the website that it will be ready in 3 business days for pick up. Could anyone who had done the exam from dr.cheema let me know? My interview is on the August 4th so it would be tight if it takes one week for report to finished and then mail to Montreal.

I had my medical Dr. Cheema morning of June 23rd and received confirmation that the results has been sent to the consulate by morning of June 26th.

no, nothing else to bring for the interview. but they will give you a CD that I was told is required at the time of POE and a vaccination sheet for your own personal records.

Does anyone know if its faster to pick up the visa at the courier branch in your city or pay for the premium delivery? 

 

Also after the interview, do the I need to return to the consulate for my passport or it will be mailed to my home address along with the visa in a few weeks time?

My wife and I have already started packing stuff. Our plan is to be 75% packed by the time of the interview so that we can head out as soon as we get the passport back. Our interview is on a Monday, and our plan is to move the Saturday of the following week.

Sorry I am asking this question again because my lawyer is saying I don’t need to upload updated tax transcript but I have read here otherwise 

 

1. do we need to upload the most recent tax transcript or is it Enough to take it to interview

2. Does affidavit of support need to be updated ?

for reference I chose the courier option. I got an email that the Consulate shipped Friday afternoon and I received it just this Monday morning.

The short simple answer is no, you don't need to upload it and can bring your documents to the interview and you don't have to update your i864 if nothing has changed. BUT, I would highly advise from personal experience and from what others have expressed in the past to:

 

a) bring updated documents, even updated i864 with new tax info

b) bring all kinds of evidence you have. you got the transcripts, 1040, and W2? bring ALL of them

c) upload documents a few days prior to the interview as well as bring the originals+photocopies to the interview. it will save them (and you) time scanning the documents once you're there and I've read the CO have commented in the past it's helpful and in my interview the CO said "this is gonna save me some time" and ended up asking me no financial questions and (this is completely subjective and in my head) felt the CO was happy I got my documents together and was prepared for the interview which made him more relaxed.

 

So, I'll answer your questions from my experience and based on the above - did you take a new AOS and recent tax return? yes. tax return or transcript? both. upload documents? yes. updated AOS? yes.
