Had my CR1 turned IR1 visa interview this morning. Seemed to go well but they needed more proof of Domicile. It seemed that she was a new trainee and kept asking for clarification from her superior. She gave me a 221g for more proof of domicile. We sent a bunch of paperwork in a few hours later through the portal to overcome the domicile requirements (even though we thought they had all they needed from the NVC stage). I'm curious if anyone else had any 221g refusal experiences more recently (most of what I found was last year and early this year). She kept my passport and mentioned if I send them in quick I'd likely get the visa and passport in 2-4 weeks. Does that seem like a average wait time?

Everything else looked to be approved and satisfactory for her, it was just domicile as my wife is currently living in Canada (dual citizen). Thanks for any feedback.

What did they ask you about domicile? What proof did you have with you to show and what did you send?

Has anyone submitted an expedite request lately and heard back? I submitted one on sept 15th and haven’t received a response/decision yet. It’s been 5 weeks.

We submitted an expedite in June 2021, got an approval August 27th. IL received Sept 20th. Interview was Oct 19th.

Maybe it’s a good sign I haven’t heard yet... 🙂

Yes I have hope for you! I think when we researched expedites and were going on about it, we found through forums that people were saying if they were going to deny your expedite request, you would've heard right away. NVC probably thinks it is expedite worthy and therefore likely sent it to MTL for final approval.

Also, my wife (petitioner) just told me she also got correspondence on Aug 17th, stating they were actually reviewing it; then we got the approval a week later.

Goodluck!
