My wife has moblie-deposited checks mailed directly to me in her own Chase account. No questions were asked.  We both signed the back of the check then she deposited. 

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

As stated above, you can sign the check over to your husband. It is a legal and easy way to solve the problem.

You also need to switch banks if the one you use doesn't accept a foreign passport. What kind of bank doesn't accept a foreign passport? As an immigrant I would have zero patience for that and would have moved on to another bank.

Capitol one will allow you to open a joint bank account online. You do not need an id but you both will need a social.

For future reference don’t EVER deposit anything important via an ATM. I wouldn’t even recommend depositing wads of money via an ATM.
