USCIS is Extending the Suspension of In-Person Services at all Local Offices from April 7th to June 4th Due to Covid-19

My AOS interview was supposed to be on 3/23 so now that that's been postponed till who knows when, I wonder if I should already start thinking of extending my EAD. It expires in October, and although I'm still hopeful that I can get the green card by then, does it make sense to apply for the EAD renewal anyway just to be on the safe side?

Wait until July before doing an EAD renewal. . . see where things are at.

Both my husband and I had my naturalization interview on the 19th! Bummed that it has to be rescheduled! Who knows when that would happen next!!!

The requirement is to marry within the 90 days. There wasn't a requirement before to report in-person to USCIS. Do as before: file I-485 and accompanying forms and document copies by mail https://www.uscis.gov/i-485-addresses

They might be extending past the April 1 deadline.  We're at the Washington DC field office and our interview was scheduled for April 3rd.  Just got a Cancellation notice.

Anyone else getting these updates?

Our case status via e-mail says: "Testing and Interview".  What does that mean?

Just got an email and egov.uscis.gov update saying "Interview Cancelled and Notice Ordered" from the San Antonio Field Office, then a call saying my interview is being postponed due to additional restrictions imposed by USCIS on in-person appointments.

 

My interview was scheduled for April 2nd, kind of expected it 😅 Though my email says "Your Case Status: Decision", I assume that's just an error though since I haven't attended the interview yet?

Yep, sadly this is going to cause a lovely backlog and several people that have or had scheduled appts. haven't received any notice of cancellation. I wonder how many of us are going to fall through the cracks for being rescheduled on things because of this. 🤨

The officer I spoke with said that we should be getting new appointments "shortly after the cancellation notice" specifically to avoid that situation, and that we would "be at the front of the queue" for new slots. So not going to start my daily phone calls to enjoy that lovely hold music (😂) until a few weeks after the original appointment date.

Any idea on how this will impact the Medical Examinations?  Anyone who calls USCIS can they ask?  My wife's medical exam will be over a year in June.  If this extends, we'll have to go up and redo it.

USCIS needs to either extend or accept a year-and-a-half to two year validity on medical exams.  There could be medical offices closed nationwide.

I didn't think of that until now, mine expires May 10th... Surely they can't force us to get new medical exams given it would've been in date at the time?
