I don't mean to make light at the expense of the folks here but I love the title "Corona Virus Embassy closed"

I was unaware the country of Corona Virus had an embassy here, but in light of the current circumstances, we should revoke their diplomatic credentials and send them packing! 😷😁😷

Applying for an IR-1 in London.  My March 31st interview was cancelled.  And they also said this in a general email answer to COVID-19 related questions:

Which strongly implies that all processing work has stopped.

Thank you for your reply. My fiance hasn't received an email from them yet, but at least we know what to expect.

The consulate in the Netherlands is also closed. Same message as everybody else.

My husband and I wrote to his congressman in the US to try and get this on the agenda (not very likely, we know). Although it's understandable that non-essential visa services have been suspended, we consider the DoS request for Americans to return to the US incongruent with the suspension of family based IVs. Let alone the fact that the travel ban does not include partners and that we should therefore be able to travel into the US if it weren't for suspension of consular activity.

It's a long shot, but since a lot of you will be confined to your own home anyway , you might as well give it a shot and have your American partner contact their member of congress.

Dears,

Will embassy work on Administrative processing cases?

Thank you.

No, all processing has stopped and will resume when they get back to normal, which is likely not until the virus slows down.

It’s real heartbreaking, I literally sent documents to be reviewed 1 day before the announcement. Now my medical may expire, and I have no idea how long it’ll take once they resume since there could be a backlog after this.

We got no notice from NVC. There site sucks so bad. Constantly kicks you off and you have to re log in many times to get anything done. When the ask for not information. And you submit then you wait and wait to even know if you have submitted correctly. There messaging doesn't work well and hard to get the messages they do send. The whole process is disgusting.

Had our CR1 interview scheduled for April 1 in Stockholm Sweden, originally they told us since my husband is a spouse of a US citizen that it was not impacted, then next day we received a cancellation email.. Hope that the virus slows down and that they are able to reschedule soon. We are already almost 14 months into this process, and just as we saw the finish line, it disappeared again..

Our CR1 Journey:

NVC Stage:

  • Sep 27 2019: Sent to Department of State
  • Oct 31 2019: Case number received (34 days since sent)
  • Nov 1 2019: IV & AOS fees received & paid
  • Nov 14 2019: IV & AOS submitted
  • Dec 18 2019: All docs accepted, but one additional doc requested (5 weeks from submission)
  • Dec 18 2019: Requested doc submitted
  • Feb 19 2020: Documentarily Qualified (9 weeks from 2nd submission, 14 weeks from first submission)

Interview Stage:

  • Mar 11 2020: Interview letter received
  • Apr 1 2020: Interview date
  • Mar 17 2020: Interview cancelled due to COVID-19
  • August 3 2020: Rescheduled letter received, new appointment August 25 2020
  • August 25 2020: Visa approved at interview! (558 days from NOA1)
  • September 10 2020: Embassy received passport in mail
  • September 15 2020: Passport with visa in hand

October 11 2020: Arrived in US!
