I'm so scared that this situation is gonna last for multiple months.

I'm literally at the last step of my K1 Visa Process at Montréal. I had to send my passport two weeks ago as they finished reviewing my Canadian police certificate on AP. Now, I have no news.

They have my French passport and I'm staying at a friend's place. I thought it was going to take few days as it was just my passport. But now they are closed and I'm stuck here because I've left my apartment and job a month ago...

They should at least review the cases where they have the passport in hand or send a email to inform what we can do...

Why did you quit your job and left your apartment? they tell you over and over again in the emails that do not sell your house or quit your job or make any travel arrangements until you have visa in hand. This is now nothing but a waiting game. I do have to agree this will take a few months.

Yes they will email you a cancellation notice. Still have time. Let's hope the embassy will reopen by then.

Do we need to reschedule ourselves or will they do it for us?

Also, they said fee paid is only good for 1 year. But I paid the fee back in May last year so after may I need to pay again?

They will reschedule it. Things won’t settle until Past May

I haven’t seen anyone from Honduras to say their interview is cancel. State dept did say they were cancel issuing visa all over world

So even though no one from honduras say they got their interview cancelled. When the state dept announce they were canceling all visa appointment around the world. That means all countries right with no exceptions. So I should just wait and not send the docs over to the parents yet for immigrant visa until i am sure they have appointment

  • 3 weeks later...

I just had my ir1 interview at a 'closed' consulate.

If you have received a cancelation notice but for whatever reason need to travel to the US soon, email your consulate asking for emergency services. We briefly explained our predicament and I ended up having my interview the same day it was originally scheduled. Best thing : no lines, I was the only one there!

Obviously their response will depend on visa type and the consular officer's discretion.
