I am just curious in asking this, when you received  your NOA2, how close was it compared to the email VJ sent you with their estimated approval date?

I think you meant to quote me on this so I could answer you not sure if it’s meant for me or not. But here goes if it is. From here on out. I learned the hard way. Press quote then on the bottom right select it so it post to your message or do a @ with my name or whoever your wanting it addressed too. But VJ was off by about 1 month a one week or so. But every situation is different. I was in the Marines and lived in many states so my could have taken longer because of that. Who knows. But now with them being short staff at NVC and USCIS it’s up in the air. Try to stay cool and positive. I for sure wasn’t as I checked case status every few hours as MyUSCIS website was not working. It’s been down for a long time. Go to check your status for USCIS it’s current and gets updated first. MyUSCIS still shows the same message even though my case was approved and sent to NVC. Hope this helps.

mine was over a month off..... VJ estimate was may 6, but i got mine (electronically) by March 30

You got lucky. My original estimate was January to February but received an RFE March 6 and sent it in March 7th. They received it on the 9th which was a Monday. Got my approval on the 16th. But that’s for the website not the actual letter. I rather go by my actual approval date to help the stats and not take into account mail delivery time. Think it’s good practice to sure up the stats on here by reporting it that way.

Our NOA2 was March 26th, and VJ estimated March 27-March 31st.

I didn't contact them to get my case number or anything. I just filled out the form via the instructions in your google doc to update my email and that was the response I got. I know they haven't received my case yet since my NOA2 was only last week. I guess I will just wait to see if I get any correspondence via email.

Yep. Way to early for checking on a case number when you just received your NOA2 recently. Give it a little more time. Maybe call again at the end of next week.

Just a general inquiry, should we be contacting the NVC for a case number at this time? I see on their website they have stated they are at reduced staff currently and have requested no one call unless for urgent needs or “necessary case updates that are still pending”

If I choose not to call, surely I will receive my case number by mail or email, correct? I know I had this info saved somewhere many months ago, now I just need to find it.

If 30-45 days have past since receiving your NOA2 then yes you can call. I see on their website they have stated they are at reduced staff currently and have requested no one call unless for urgent needs or “necessary case updates that are still pending”

If I choose not to call, surely I will receive my case number by mail or email, correct? Yes you will get an email but then likely you will get a snail mail confirmation with your case number. That takes about 45-60 days. I know I had this info saved somewhere many months ago, now I just need to find it. You saved it here:

I created a PDF file that answers most questions before they are asked as they have been asked over and over. So, I made it easy for you and for me by answering those questions in the PDF. You can download a copy from the first page of this thread in the first posting or use this link.

Thanks for the help :) I know we can call, I suppose I was wondering more whether we should since the NVC is currently requesting no phone calls for non urgent matters. I know they are running on a smaller staff at the moment. I suppose all of this just means longer wait times, probably

@Greenbaum I have a question regarding form I-134, the Affidavit of support for the K1 visa.

How do I fill it if the Petitioner is currently unemployed, but his last tax return as employed meets the poverty guidelines?

Thank you in advance!

You complete that section with what his status is today or if things change before the embassy interview then update the I-134 to reflect any current information. If there are circumstances you want the CO to be aware of then list them on a separate page as an addendum. Address the top of the page with the petitioner's name, DOB and A#. You can submit the TT for employment history, but they will concentrate on current income. You may want to consider a co-sponsor. The co-sponsor completes the same documents that the petitioner does.

on my NOA2 letter, it says the expiration is July 27, but my  fiance is planning on moving to the states in spetember. Will i have to request an  extension? Does the expiration date on the NOA2 signify the person has to enter USA by that date with K1 visa OR that the k1 process (embass interview) need to be completed by the expiration date? I was under the impression that K1 fiances had  months to enter USA from the date the visa is issued not NOA2...
