I think it also might have to do with how backed up Mumbai consulate is, if the consulate is backed up I see why they would not be in rush to send the case to the consulate. But again I am speculating too.

We decided to ring again and got another person who again said they could not see it but they would send to a different department to review and to call in a few weeks for an update. I have no idea what is going on now and we are in total limbo..the correct certificate has been sent so I have no idea what to do. They said it maybe because it's the wrong issuing authority but there is no other authority in Australia to get this from. What a nightmare. Keep me updated on how your getting on and I will do the same.

Wrong issuing authority whatever.. Aus Fed Pol is totally the right one, is the only bloody one other than local state which is useless for anything anyways..

Thankfully that backlog has actually reduced lately and it looks like it's between 2-3 months now instead of 3-4!

Hi everyone,

I think there is hope that the NVC timeline for case review isn't as backed up as shown on the website. I wasn't expecting to hear back for another 2 weeks, but just got our status update and DQ email today.

 

 Submitted - 11/27 (this was our first and only submission)

DQ'd - 1/14

 

We received 2 emails at the same time - one titled "Notice regarding your Immigrant Visa Case" and another "Notice regarding your Immigrant Visa Case being Documentarily Qualified."

 

I was worried there would be something incomplete in the documents, but thankfully everything was fine, thanks to all the tips on these forums. A few things I want to summarize that helped:

- Make sure all photos/documents are in the right position (not sideways)

- Upload any translations in the same file as the original-language documents

 

I also provided the below just in case:

- W2 for most recent tax year (not just the tax transcript)

- Tax transcripts for last 3 years

 

For those applying from Pakistan:

- Police certificate is not needed (I put 'not available' and pasted the description they have for reciprocity on the site)

- Marriage certificate, nikkah nama, and nikkah nama translation should all be uploaded in one single file

 

Hope that info helps those submitting documents.

so should I go ahead and re submit my marriage certificate in one file? since everyone is saying do all one. I did all three as separate for nikkah narma urdu , English and nadra  registration separate file will they decline it or should give a call and see what nvc says? Will do so right away if I need to do that way is not to late.

Hi all

 

Just received DQ email. Single submission on November 24 2019 and DQ on January 15 2020. I am a British citizen and my interview will be scheduled at the London consulate. I'd like to make a couple of observations that will hopefully be helpful to those yet to make submissions.

1. Your primary source of information should not be this or any other forum. It should be the State Department website and USCIS. Just because something worked for one VJ member does not mean it will work for you so relying completely on their experience is not advisable. Read the NVC website (every single page of it, including the FAQs, your embassy's page and also your country's document page), read it again, and again, prepare your documents and then go back and cross-check your submission against the website line by line. Pay particular attention to the AOS, read the form carefully and also the guidance on the USCIS website. If in any doubt at all, always use the i-864 (as opposed to any of the other variations). 99% of the rejections I've seen could have been avoided by reading the fine print on the aforementioned websites. If English is not your first language, do not take any chances; get a trusted bilingual friend to check you have not missed or misinterpreted anything.
2. Calling the NVC for a case update is a complete waste of your time and money and will only cause you aggravation. The only time it's worth calling the NVC is if you dispute the information in CEAC and even then it's debatable how much help they will be. If you must call, 7amEST is the best time for reduced wait times in my experience.
3. The NVC will not look at anything (and therefore the clock doesn't start) until you've submitted every single required document. I see so many questions where people assume the clock starts counting from the moment they submit their first document.
4. The one area of inconsistency I have noticed with the NVC is in relation to police certificates. Be prepared to produce a police certificate for every single country in which you've lived since the age of 16. This of course excludes countries where you merely vacationed. The NVC website states that you need to have lived there for >12m for a police certificate to be required but my experience is that they will want to see one for every country you've lived in post-16 so be prepared. If possible, request the certificate in advance of your case being created to save time. And check the country requirements to make sure you request it from the correct authority.
5. Be careful with your scanning. I used the Adobe Scan app on my phone for all my documents and that works well. Basically you need to work on the assumption that anything you do to make the case officer irritated could result in a rejection (e.g. scanning a document in landscape which is read in portrait). Adobe also has an online tool for shrinking the size of PDFs if required.
6. And finally for the love of god, please sign and date your i-864 by hand. It breaks my heart when I see submissions delayed for such a simple mistake.

That's because that's the entire message. You will receive the DQ email shortly.
