Well, actually, I was expecting that answer. We're Brazilians and my husband is an American's son. However, he never lived in the United States until 2019 when we decided to embark on this adventure. So he had no tax returns in previous years. Even though he made a lot of money of what they ask, I believe that because he did not have his taxes declared yet, he was not accepted and now we will need a co sponsor. That's bad because we'll have to ask for help, he has no relatives there. Another reason is because they didn't accept my Brazilian certificate because it has a new model and they said it is not accepted. So I'm going to send a very old one that I already had before I made a new one. And the silliest mistake I made was sending the I184 in an editable way. I feel dumb about this mistake but I'm already fixing it. I did it all by myself and I confess it was a lot for me the moment I sent it. On the other hand the other documents were accepted including the statement of why he has no tax yet. This all served as an apprenticeship and they are fixable. We will move on from here!

Which Brazilian cerficate are you referring to? I am collecting all documents (still no case number yet... but trying to get organized) so I would like to know all the ins and outs. Thanks for sharing this info! Good luck! This is such a special forum - it´s a place where we cheer for each other and try to be as helpful as we can. Don´t get discouraged - this is just a speedbump in a long road!

My birth certificate was very old, so I went to the registry office and paid for a new one. However, certificates issued from 2017 onwards are not accepted and I did not pay attention to this detail.
They say:
Because of the new law, it is not possible to determine from standard birth certificates issued after November 21, 2017 whether the listed parents are the biological parents, adoptive parents, or other social-affective parents.  To determine this relationship it is necessary to obtain a complete unabridged record (certidao de inteiro teor).  This may be obtained from the civil registry office (cartório) where the birth is registered.

I could ask for a new one as they say or use the older one (which is in perfect condition, only ugly). I decided to send the older one.
If you want, send me a private message so we can talk more.

Whats the longest NVC can take to review a submission? Its been over 8 weeks now for me and I am really starting to worry that they have lost/forgot my file.

Should I try calling them?

I have been trying to get hold of them since this morning without any luck cos the msg they sent me yesterday doesn’t make much sense. Had I not heard from them yesterday I would have called them anyways just to have peace of mind. I would say give it a try man.

Hi our case was updated today...

My husband uploaded his employment verification letter in required doc section where income tax return was supposed to be...

our tax return was rejected and the msg was to upload most recent transcript or explanation for not filing.

Question- should I submit our explanation for not filing (he was unemployed for the tax period) in the same place where the income tax was..there is an option to replace document or delete document ?   Or should it be in the additional docs section?

Also...

Our joint sponser tax return was also rejected with the same message attached...

Joint sponser's tax return and w2 were submitted together

Do you think that was the reason should I do them separately or do they require the transcript as stated in the msg?

Thanks guys

I have less experience than you bu I would definitely call them if I were you. From France, it is quite convenient around 12H58 and you should not wait too long. Keep us posted.

I have one question, how do you guys are calling NVC. Whenever I call at 603-334-0700, I always get a automated voice saying all customer reps are busy and call get hanged up after that. How do you guys are getting a hold NVC customer service representative?

Call them and when IVR picked up, press 1,  you have to call until it goes to the ring. i called 25+ times last time and finally got picked.
