I am sure this is just the tip of the iceberg.

It seems a well known ploy in the Viet community.  70k is high - heard 20-30k is the going rate.

Anyways will make things even harder for those with legitimate relationships.  Not to mention future repercussions for those involved in it - jail and deportation.

Nearly 100 people in Texas have been indicted on federal marriage fraud charges, in a scheme allegedly aimed at securing U.S. Green Cards for Vietnamese nationals, according to officials.....The suspected criminal organization allegedly created 150 sham marriages in the past six years

The lengths people will go to...I swear it’s mind numbing and it infuriates me because these idiots make it harder for people who are in real true relationships. They should get sentenced to life in prison and/or deported for good. Just my two cents.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. The marriage fraud is so rampant I literally do hear people talk about doing it so casually sometimes, as if it's a cool thing to abuse the system.

Of course it's only the tip. The demand is really high in Vietnam. When there's demand, there's supply. There are advertisements all the time in the Vietnamese FB groups and such.

I know!!! As a Vietnamese, I am both disgusted by the news and yet astonished at my people's business acumen as well as "how the hell did these people get all these money?" At $50k-$70k, they made between $7.5 million and $10.5 million in the last 5 years, tax free! The average household income in Vietnam is around $2,000/year. How the in hell they paid this kind of money? I know the wealth discrepancy is high too in Vietnam, but Jesus holy bucket.

That doesn't have anything to do with anything, man. There is a legitimate need to be able to adjust status inside the US. For example, refugees, you can't send them back to where they're from to do consular processing! The whole point is they can't live there, that's why they left.

But this story is not about AOS. This ring, with the help of the lawyer, created entire backstories, albums, photos, trips,.... everything. They know how to tick all the boxes to get through USCIS and the Consulate.
