For those who have just filed your I-129f application with USCIS, this thread has been created for your needs and to be with others experiencing different aspects of this journey. This is a place to ask questions and to share experiences. All are here to learn together. Good luck because this is a long process currently running 5-6 months from filing date for your NOA2 approval.

https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/K1_Process_V11.pdf

Also, since your application will go through a number of background checks this is a primer on what goes on with the background process.

I know it really sucks, but the best way to get through this is to lower your expectations and try not to compare your timeline to anyone else's. Don't forget that the people here on Visa Journey represent a tiny percentage of all the petitions the CSC has to work through! When someone gets to your file you'll hear from them. Stay busy, talk a lot with your fiancé about non-visa stuff, don't forget to hang out with your friends, take up a new hobby, go to a sporting event, and your time will come! Good luck

Explanation why is it taking so long.

I just filed in May.  Thanks so much for creating this post.

May started slow last year back when we filed too, if I recall correctly ...

Wow!  I looked at your timeline.  6 months from NOA1 to NOA2.  That seems so long when you're just waiting.  I hope things move faster this year.  Congrats on being closer to completion!!

Yeah, and we were actually among the faster cases from then.

While we still have a lot to do with immigration stuff (finish AOS -- we're just waiting on an interview there, remove conditions two years after initial green card because San Diego is not a super-slow field office so we'll almost certainly have our interview within two years of our wedding, naturalization three years after green card), the rest of it we're together for which helps a lot. Oh, and there's some paperwork we'll need to take care of the next time we're in Russia, too...

Hey everyone, congrats to sending off the I-129 packet! Sent mine off May 21st and received letter today with a NOA1 of May 24th! I hope our adjucated summer timeline is accurate and I wish you all the best :)

A little homework for you guys. BTW, Nigeria is a very difficult embassy and takes much more time then others. Be sure to use the link to the sub-forum where many others are talking and sharing about their experience. Good information from folks who have their "boots on the ground".

Scheduling the interview can take 1 to 3 months. Once you pay the $265 visa fee at GTB Bank, you can go online to schedule an appointment at www.ustraveldocs.com You can get the forms online at http://nigeria.usembassy.gov/immigrant_visa_forms.html No need to go to the consulate to pick up forms. Download forms if unexpired or get current versions of same forms. Email LagosIV@state.gov for your interview date.

So sorry to hear that. Hopefully you’re able to get this sorted out ASAP! It shouldn’t be that big of a setback in the long run. Keep your chin up!

Hi all, our package was sent on May 17th but the check has not been cashed, nor the NOA1 received. :(

Should I start to do something now or just wait? Is there a number to call?

The don't normally deny a application because of a mistake on the payment, what they do is send it back to you and you can resubmit your package with a corrected payment. Don't assume!  https://www.uscis.gov/fees

Greetings Everyone!

I filed my I-129f form on May 21 and still no sign of NOA1. Should I be concerned?

Honestly no. My check wasn’t deposited until 13 days after I sent my petition. It can take some time. Give it a few more days. Keep checking your bank to see if the check gets deposited
