Consulate Review: Nigeria
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : November 7, 2019
Embassy Review : My fiance arrived at the embassy around 5:30 am. He wasn't able to go through the entry gate and security checks until 7:30 and it ended at 7:50. He then sat down and his passport was taken away and tagged with a number, this happened around 8 am. After 40 minutes, they were called to move inside and go through the second security check to enter the main embassy hall. They started calling the numbers around 9 am. A guy called him up and collected his documents, after 5 minutes he was called to do his biometrics. 10 minutes after he was called to a CO who was a kind White man.

He was asked to run his fingerprint and take an oath. The CO said Good Morning and asked him how he's doing. These were the questions that were asked.
1. Who is filing for you?
2. Do you know what state she is living in the U.S?
3. Are you working?
4.CO asked fiance to confirm my date of birth
5. When did you guys meet?
6. When did our relationship turn romantic?
7. CO asked fiance if he knew a specific name
8. Are you married? Do you have kids?
9. Is your fiance married? does she have kids?
10. Does your fiance work?
11. Does she have an apartment?
12. If your fiance is a student how will she sponsor you?

CO went to confirm the information with a colleague. Then CO came back and handed my fiance papers that explained how to pick up visa

Tips: Be very honest, be very bold, don't show desperation, make sure you smile, make eye contact, dress nicely, and lastly PRAY!
Rating : Very Good

Hi. I was wondering, once you got your case number did you go ahead and schedule your interview or did you wait for notification from the consulate?
blank avatar G&BN on 2019-09-16 said:

Dear poster, that’s 3 days after the supposed health insurance law has been passed,I really do not know much about how that law is going to affect k1 appilicants but may God help us all, have you been hearing or seeing any reviews on what they’ll want
blank avatar G&BN on 2019-10-22 said:
@brklynbelle yes we did find questions I just used the ones in the reviews! @ola im not sure I am aware of this health insurance law..can you tell me about it? My fiance just went to one of the medical exam place listed in the p3 and completed his exam.

Dear G&BN,it’s the new health insurance bill that trump came up with for prospective immigrants,it requires all immigrants to prove that they’ll be able to foot their own health bills before they are issued a visa and not rely on the government in case there’s an health issue,I’ve really not read much into to but that’s pretty much it,so they’ll probably give every body a certain amount that they’re supposed to have or something,I’m not sure what exactly is going to happen
blank avatar G&BN on 2019-10-22 said:
Oh wow, I didnt know about that. Hmm I'm not sure how its going to affect our loved ones but I pray that they are granted visas regardless. In terms of health bills, the spouse will just cover it until they get health insurance through their work.

Wonderful. I am glad you found practice questions. @G&BN
blank avatar Brklyn Belle on 2019-10-23 said:
@Olasunkanmi there are stipulations to the new law. If the fiance will be covered under the petitioners plan there shouldn't be any issue. You can read the presidential proclamation here: https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/presidential-proclamation-suspension-entry-immigrants-will-financially-burden-united-states-healthcare-system/

I heard that the law only in effect for a petitioner's income that is below $62,500. I also heard that the California and NYC supreme court but an injunction to stop that law but I'm not 100% sure pls everyone research. Congrats on your interview my fiance's is in Dec I'm very nervous for him and I... but trusting God through it all lol!
blank avatar G&BN on 2019-10-24 said:

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! Congrats! Congrats!!! So happy for you!!! My fiance's is December and we are so nervous. His is at 7:30am so I'm a bit nervous about how he will make it on time considering security clearance. Thank you for writing a detailed account of your fiance's interview! It helped a lot!!
blank avatar G&BN on 2019-11-12 said:
Thank you thank you! Don't be nervous, go over the questions posted and gather all the documents necessary! If your relationship is genuine and your fiance answers the questions confidently then he will be fine! He should get there around 530am as well and hopefully he will be called sooner. My fiance appt was at 830 but didn't get called until around 9! You guys will get approved 😁

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
