Hi everyone. Not sure if this is the right place to post this but thought I’d give it a shot. I filed for AOS after coming in on a K1 on April 4th along with the Travel and work permit applications. I have my interview for the I-797 in a month, but still have not been approved to work or travel. The last update I have for the work permit is on May 7th confirming my fingerprints had been accepted. The last I heard for the travel is that they had sent me a receipt notice. (Side note I did get advanced parole accepted, could this be an issue)? How can I chase my work and travel permits? Appreciate any and all help you guys can give me :)

What interview did you have exactly? An I-797 is an notice of action, you can't have an interview for that. Need clarification in order begin to answer your question.

You can try to request an expedite for your work or travel permit if you have good reasons behind it, or you can just wait until your interview next month and then you'll get your green card and you will no longer need the permits.

It is coming up, on December 5th

That’s in a month time. Lately they have changed processing time, work permit inquiry date is at March 25 as of today. You can call but they will give you the general response “you are in the time frame”. I think is best you try to pass the time and wait for green card interview or if you have a reason for expedite your work permit you can try that avenue as well. All the best.

On the 28th of October USCIS received our response to the RFIE (the new website showed the update, the old one did not), and then on the 31st of October they sent us a courtesy letter for I-693 by mail. We waited with medical on purpose, because of the long processing times, and thought that it may become invalid by the time we get to have an interview.

At least, there's some sort of movement in the case, which is very nice! 😁

In your opinion, dear members whose opinion I value 😁, do you think that if nothing happens with EAD/AP in the following weeks, should we:

  1. wait for 60 days (90?) after they received the response for the RFIE to contact them, or
  2. wait for our case to become one that is outside of normal processing times (current receipt date for inquiry for EAD is 03/25, and ours is 04/18) to place an inquiry?

Thank you!

Do whatever comes first. I placed my inquiry because of the 60 days after the rfie. They scheduled my interview shortly after.

For all that have already gone through the interview process, how long did it take for you to receive your interview date after the "Case is Ready to Be Scheduled for An Interview" update? I got that update for the I-485 (marriage through green card) on September 25th and I've heard nothing yet. Also for some reason I-130 case status is still stuck on "case was received" from back in April, not sure if that has anything to do with this. Thanks!!

I-485, I-765, and I-130 filed concurrently

Date Filed : 2019-04-22

NOA Date : 2019-04-30

Bio. Appt. : 2019-05-23

RFE to I 485: 2019-06-21

Response to RFE received by USCIS : 2019-07-09

EAD approved : 2019-09-18
EAD Received 2019-09-26

Green card Interview Date : 2019-12-20

I am in an almost identical situation. Filed concurrently in April. Status changed to “case is ready to be scheduled” on Oct 2nd. Haven’t received EAD yet. My local field office is Hartford so I’m expecting a long wait.

In my case 5 weeks, though I though it was going to be longer than that.

I hope it comes out soon for us! Crossing fingers :)
