USCIS assigns the service center location based on their workload and/or other factors......the petitioner's place of residence is totally irrelevant.

Probably other factors given that they are still sending petitions to Nebraska when they are so far behind the other service centers 🤨

For our story, look at my profile.

Hi everyone,

can someone maybe help me understand this... my husband lives in Dallas, TX and our case is being processed in Nebraska. I am a bit confused why since there is a service center in Texas that has shorter processing times

I wonder if it is related to the chances of being adjudicated by someone who knows you irl. For example my husband lives in California and we got sent to Texas, Im sure USCIS demands their employees to adjudicate in an unbiased manner, and sending you to another state improves their chances of doing that.

Service Center: Texas Service Center SRC

Consulate: Juarez, Mexico

I-130 NOA1: 2019/03/21

I-130 NOA2: 2019/09/17

I don't think so. People you know can live anywhere. It's supposed to be based off of workload and whatever but yet it's so unbalanced so they're not really doing too good of a job, California Service Center also doesn't process spouse of USC petitions so it couldn't be sent there regardless

Our CR1 Journey:

USCIS Stage:

  • Feb 14 2019: NOA1 (NSC)
  • July 31 2019: I129f NOA1
  • Sep 19 2019: I129f NOA2 (Denied - 50 days from NOA1)
  • Sep 19 2019: I130 NOA2 (Approved - 217 days from NOA1)

NVC Stage:

  • Sep 27 2019: Sent to Department of State
  • Oct 31 2019: Case number received (34 days since sent)
  • Nov 1 2019: IV & AOS fees received & paid
  • Nov 14 2019: IV & AOS submitted
  • Dec 18 2019: All docs accepted, but one additional doc requested (5 weeks from submission)
  • Dec 18 2019: Requested doc submitted
  • Feb 19 2020: Documentarily Qualified (9 weeks from 2nd submission, 14 weeks from first submission)

Interview Stage:

  • Mar 11 2020: Interview letter received
  • Apr 1 2020: Interview date
  • Mar 17 2020: Interview cancelled due to COVID-19
  • August 3 2020: Rescheduled letter received, new appointment August 25 2020
  • August 25 2020: Visa approved at interview! (558 days from NOA1)
  • September 10 2020: Embassy received passport in mail
  • September 15 2020: Passport with visa in hand

Yes people you know can live in any state but im talking about lowering chances. I dont think Ive read about people being assigned to their home state service center. However I could be wrong but this is what happens when you have a lot of time while waiting in the immigration process 😂

Since spouse is from Iraq, extra security and won't allow K3.....or so the powers that be have informed me.

Who are these power that be? If you want to extended delays on each step go for it. But if you could reduce delays at one of the steps shouldn't you take the chance?

It costs nothing but effort and postage. The two outcomes that could happen is.

They process it faster or

It process it normal speed

It's not going to effect you in any other way but those two outcomes.

So the door is still shown to you. It's still up to you.
