He's been in the US since 2015 on a tourist visa? You'll have other problems as well. Not just the misrepresentation if that's the case.

Sorry to ask this but why did you let 8 months go past without adjusting his status? That's 8 months you lost where you could have already been in the process. Not to mentioned since he overstayed he's deportable. 

 

Look I'm in a very similar situation. I got married to a foreigner on a tourist visa and he overstayed 5 years or so. I was still an LPR when we got married. Every day I lived in fear that he would just get picked up. The very day I got naturalized I sent our application for adjustment of his status. And the good news: He got approved. But it took almost 17 months.
