Have you had your Naturalization interview already? The USCIS website gives you the complete list of 100 possible questions that can be asked (with the answers, of course). Just many dates, government officials' names for your particular state, etc.

the questions used to be so difficult that USC could not easily answer them

and most do not know the statue is actually in New Jersey if you check the state boundaries on a map

New York is an accepted answer, along with three others, so NBD.

it is but still not correct as NYC is not in NEW Jersey

they did make questions easier but only fair as some USC could not say who their senator was / i use to give civic exams for GED tests

It actually easy. I just listen all these 100 questions everyday when driving and remember all of it after about 3 weeks.

If you've lived in this country for 3-5 years, how can you not know where the Statue of Liberty is?

Not all of the questions are that easy though.

I don’t feel like living here for 3-5 years would help with the majority of questions, unless you happen to be interested in politics/history.

Note: I’ve only had a quick look at some of the possible questions so far, and I did not know the answers to some of the ones I looked at. Haven’t studied or looked at in detail yet.

Well, sure, it's not intuitive that there are 27 amendments to the Constitution, but you only have to get 6 out of 10 right.

New Jersey is not a correct answer but an "accepted" answer according to USCIS, https://www.uscis.gov/citizenship/teachers/educational-products/100-civics-questions-and-answers-mp3-audio-english-version:

Quote

Where is the Statue of Liberty?

  • New York (Harbor)
  • Liberty Island

[Also acceptable are New Jersey, near New York City, and on the Hudson (River).]

USCIS is correct (from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liberty_Island):

Quote

The island is an exclave of the New York City borough of Manhattan, surrounded by the waters of Jersey City, New Jersey.

I did not know there were 435 US Representatives for example, before studying for the test. Most questions are very easy, though. Which ocean is to the East of the continental US? I wonder.... :)

My husband is an USC born and raised here and he would know maybe half of the answers. Most of the USCs would not answer the 100 questions correctly. My hubby learned a lot by helping me prepare with these questions.

Some answers are silly easy (oceans, Prez, rivers) but some require a bit more thinking, if you want to put some sense into it.

The articulation of the workings of government branches take a bit of work.
I found a great tutorial site, a few months ago, but can'y retrieve it now.

After many years as LPR, I never realized how much rests in the hands of the president...
