for the past few years, I have been (as an Advocate) assisting immigrants through a long process; I must say, immigrants, in general, obey the law and do everything by the law, but Immigration is indeed a broken system, it reminds me of "Third World" country where people are only numbers. recently I have witnessed Immigrants given the wrong information or simply immigration have lost their files. it brakes my heart knowing some of those Immigrants have been waiting for 10 or more years and when the time comes for the final step, they discover an error or some of the filing requirement has expired.  I wonder if this is a strategy to add to exhaust to the immigrants or simply a form of racism. Did Immigration staff forget they were once Immigrants?

I have not seen that legal immigrants from any country have more problems than others.  The only ones I know that have waited 10 years are the criminal residents that are thinking they should always get a free pass to the front of the line.  Why would most citizens remember that they are immigrants.  I can trace my US roots back hundreds of years.  Never even met a relative that immigrated ( except my husbands )

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Yes! why are those repeated mistakes not fixed? also, what happens if the Immigration was at fault causing a delay?

unless you are a Native-American, otherwise you are immigrant from somewhere...as for your first part, you are absolutely mistaken.. waiting a long time does not mean "criminals" as you quoted rather, due to lack of consideration or "Human Errors" as another person stated.

I think the last part of your first post can be misconstrude...

Quote

Did Immigration staff forget they were once Immigrants?

immigrant - (noun) - a person who comes to live permanently in a foreign country.

Quote

unless you are a Native-American, otherwise you are immigrant from somewhere

This is wrong.

If the staff was born here, they are not immigrants. I think you meant the staff are descendants of immigrants.

If you don't like it here, you don't have to live here. There are plenty of other countries on the planet.

Why do you assume they aren't being addressed? You will never prevent all human errors unless you remove all humans from the process. But then you really would just be a number (which was another complaint in your post).

I'm unaware of any statistics showing the number of USCIS mistakes in the process, so I think any premise about how often they make mistakes (or results of efforts to reduce that) is anecdotal and/or hearsay in nature.

If it were racism, then I doubt we'd have as many immigrants from countries all over the world successfully completing the process of immigration as we do now.

I'm curious what makes you conclude they were immigrants to the USA?  Perhaps you  meant children/grandchildren of immigrants...which does not make them immigrants themselves if they were born in the US.

So what if it is removed. It might have served it's purpose back in the day but does not now at all. Do you ever think that the files expired because the immigrant or the petitioner is not doing what they need to do in order for the file to be current or is just you want to bash the US and USCIS today?

This is in regard to the second comment that I am commenting on: I am going to have to agree with @NigeriaorBust on this one. I do not know or met any of my relatives that have immigrated to the USA except for my wife. I can trace my family here in the USA back to the 1660's when my ancestor came here from England as an Indentured Servant to start a new life. Since then my family has been farmers in the Piedmont Region of VA and NC. We have fought in almost every major war in the USA since then and on both sides of the Civil War. So don't come here spouting off this or that about how we are all immigrants from somewhere and trying to perpetrate some myth of innate racism. Also the only racism I see as well is from the ones that jump the line in order to come here and stay illegally then want everything handed to them all the while people that come here legally have to wait in line months and years to come here.

I have to agree with other posters as well on here. If you do not like it here @libertad because we are supposedly racist against immigrants of all forums You can always go back to Mauritania where they actually still have slavery.
